It doesn't say the error, but a window pops up and says "Signing into .Net Messenger Service failed because the service is not responding. The service is not available or you may not be connected to the Internet." Yet I am on the internet.

Why not get 8.0 / 8.5 BETA 2 (WLM 2008) ? They are newer versions with improved security and UI. (:

My intention was to get a new messenger, given the above titles and reasons.

But considering spongeboy can sign into MSN Messenger makes your post irrelevant.

spongeboy....what version of Windows Messenger are you using? (Click on Help and then about to find out)

Also, just a point worth noting, if I remember correctly Windows Messenger and Windows Live/MSN Messenger use different servers altogether.

OK what operating system are you using? because it could be time for an upgrade of Windows Messenger.

RE: Can't sign into old Messenger. by spongeboy on 10-11-2007 at 08:06 PM

Umm operating system. You mean Windows XP? I have HOME EDITION:S. It never used to do this before.

OK I suggest trying to install Windows Messenger http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?F...774&DisplayLang=en but beware, WGA validation is needed before you download it.
