Two days ago i had shut down by PC with Vista Ultimate 64-bit installed on it. The next day when i booted it up, I got a blue screen error- quote: I'm 100% sure than the system was shut down properly. I've tried System Repair using the Vista DVD but no luck with that. Don't have any previous System Restore to Restore to. Anyways has any ideas how can i get it to work? Or will i just have to format my HDD and install Vista again? It was a 80 GB Sata HDD with 2 equal partitions has about 2GB left in both partitions. If any more details are required, please let me know. Thanks Felu RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Chancer on 10-10-2007 at 04:17 PM Do you have a backup of your files? RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Felu on 10-10-2007 at 04:35 PM
quote:No . Thats the only reason why i'm not wanting to format my HDD. RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Chancer on 10-10-2007 at 04:53 PM Can you put your HD in other PC and back up the files? RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Felu on 10-10-2007 at 04:55 PM I tired that but turned out that this old computer doesn't support SATA HDDs . RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Jhrono on 10-10-2007 at 04:57 PM Use an external HDD case which suports SATA and plug it through USB to your other PC. RE: Need Help. Download Puppy Linux from here: http://puppylinux.org RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Chancer on 10-10-2007 at 05:07 PM
quote:Good...or use any other "Live" OS. It'll probably work. RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by Mike on 10-10-2007 at 05:14 PM
quote:True, but I like puppy the best because it is easy to use, and fast (runs completely on RAM as long as you have more than 128MB of ram, which I'm pretty sure Felu does since Ultimate requires 512MB of ram or more). Btw, I suggest you to download the Community Edition (2.15CE) since it includes more tools to burn CDs. Of course, you can also try the latest version (3.00) RE: Need Help. Thanks Mike... Gonna give it a try after breakfast . RE: Need Help. Vista Ultimate x64 by ryxdp on 10-11-2007 at 05:27 AM Booting from a flash/USB drive of any kind (AFAIK) is only supported by some BIOSes. Check yours to see if it will boot from USB. RE: Need Help. This is why you have at least 2 partitions: 1 for system and 1 for regular files |
