Patchou has already commented on the issue

quote:
This web site is entirely safe and Messenger Plus!, the software it promotes, is as trustworthy. Messenger Plus! comes with an optional adware program, that's all. 16 million people already use the software every day which is the best test of trust any software could hope to get.

Submitted by Patchou at 2007-05-03 22:44:32

So, OLD :D.

THANKS FOR THE NEWS FLASH OMG!!!!

Sponsors are a big way Patchou gets money. If anything... you should be thankful it's optional. |-)

I'm sick of people just taking peoples words for things and believing them without proper testing - oh, and i'm sick of the stupid coffee antivirus do blah.

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Voldemort on 10-10-2007 at 11:13 PM

Actually, Plus! is waaaaay over the 16,000,000 users, IIRC.

If we're quoting SiteAdvisor anyway...

That's more than 70% of human users saying McAfee's automatic process got it wrong in this case.
RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Patchou on 10-11-2007 at 05:14 AM

actually, tonight I read the most ridiculous comment on siteadvisor I've ever read. It's one of those "I'm an expert" moments. Anybody doing a study about the extent of human stupidity should go check it out (this or the formidable answer I recently got on Neowin from somebody else on a totally different subject... anyway, this is such a positive night, hopefully, Conan is here to chear me up. *spam* *spam*).

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Dane on 10-11-2007 at 06:34 AM

Indeed.  As my signature has said for much time, you need to prove the crap out of McAfee until they get that they're wrong.  In fact, www.msgpluslive.net was "On the brink" of turning into a Green site until a new wave of new users/idiots that dont understand the sponsor logged onto SiteAdvisor and complained.  And there is like, no system to prevent multiple submissions, i've seen one user comment 3+ times negatively about Plus!.  McAfee is lame, its a shame SiteAdvisor is installing by default with the McAfee 2007 (and probably 2008) products.

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by roflmao456 on 10-11-2007 at 12:23 PM

i guess Patchou should put in

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

on the sponsor part of the msgplus setup :p

In case you donīt know (and you donīt) I spent 2 hours analising this website and my conclusion is clear: msgpluslive.net is a dangerous website full of spyware and with links to lots of dangerous websites (including, of course, msghelp.com).

Look kid, you just messed up with the wrong guy. Iīm am far more expirienced than you in this area, belive me.

So I recommend you to shut your mouth, stand back and let the pros do their job.

By the way, your probably just a poor bastard working for (or in) msgpluslive.com and hired to make publicit to that horrible site, so your opinion is meaningless.

And your lucky that I do not report your coment to McAfee, because if I did, you would be in some serious problems.

does anyone else see what is wrong with that?  Should we let them know that their statements are invalid due to them obviously not even testing the program to get the actual name for it?

yeah, it's always been like that, one other proof that their analysis is completely biased. I don't really mind though, their site never caused me any trouble, anybody using SiteAdvisor in its currently form probably quickly gets used to all these false alarms which is a shame considering the fact that the original idea was a good one.
RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by roflmao456 on 10-11-2007 at 09:22 PM

i wonder how many downloads siteadvisor has...

The fact they'd even have Ad-ware in there is bad enough, the sponsor program, no matter how low on money Patchou is, he has another alternative. Not to make the MSN add-on, SIMPLE.

And all the people that think it's good well, I dunno what to say to you but watch your computer. =\

My advice... DOWN WITH MESSENGER PLUS!

* roflmao456 sticks both middle fingers crossed @ Beck (whoever he is)

Some "pro" needs a spell checker, what a retard :undecided:

I tried to sign-up in this mcafee site but it wouldn't let me for some odd reason
RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Siteadvisor-konner on 10-12-2007 at 04:30 AM

I like the product im just not wanting my computer to get screwed up again. i had that happen and McAfee keeps scanning my computer and deleting the scripts Messenger Plys! installs so it stops working. I really like the tabbed stuff. so much easyer than having like 50 thousand windows open lagging the computer. but i need McAfee on my computer to keep me safe from other stuff. i just dont want my computer virus filled.

Indeed.  I rarely see a "Green" site on SiteAdvisor.  Hell, it detected one of my Virus Removal Tools as a virus on my domain (The tool had several warning dialogs, etc. before it even touched a file on your computer, and didnt have a virus).  Unfortunatly, more than half the customers I deal with in the retail channel who use McAfee Products stand firmly by SiteAdvisor's ratings.

We're making progress, Messenger Plus! Live (www.msgpluslive.net) is now on "Sites on the Brink" again in favor of changing to "Green".  If a "Green" rating is achieved on the main site, several "cascading ratings", such as msghelp.net's rating, will change to "Green".

Woo!

Finally, something good.
RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Patchou on 10-12-2007 at 04:35 PM

Note to everybody: please do not post anything on SiteAdvisor, except if you really see something that has no sense and in that case, please try to stay objective. If too many peopeel from the forum go there and start posting their advice, some people will just use this opporunity to say that all green comments are done by "employees of Messenger Plus"... you know the drill.

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by The Alpha Gamer on 10-12-2007 at 11:42 PM

1. McAfee is so bad i wouldn't trust a single word it says. It's firewall once blocked my MSN, and i didn't even have that firewall installed =|

2. None of those are the latest version, so what's the problem?

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Kiz on 10-13-2007 at 04:59 PM

Dudes... It's simple. If they boycott us, we boycott them.

I haven't used McAfee for years anyway, not since I was a computer nub. ESET Nod32 ftw, maybe Kaspersky too...

I currently have Windows Live OneCare, I can't wait for it to expire so I can just stick with the free light virus scanners which perform much better. Of the only one virus I got, Nod32 picked it up whilst it was running alongside OneCare. Uses a lot less memory too, hence it being called 'light'!

Ditch the big names, head to the more less commercialised products. Power to the small people!!! Lemme hear ya!

And can someone tell me what iirc means?!?! Argh!

Also, check out:
Comparison of Nod32 with other virus scanners (Yeah, yeah! I hear you, company propaganda, but I buy it!!!)

And whilst we're on software, ditch Internet Explorer and Firefox and get Opera instead!!

Too bad your spelling sucks.

And it shouldn't be yellow, it should be green. There is nothing wrong with it.

Eh, also, it's Messenger Plus! Live, not "MSGLIVEPLUS". I could go on..

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Kiz on 10-14-2007 at 10:20 PM

lmfao

I was thinking the same thing. Pat of the back for trying, but Mr. Patchou already said don't go in kicking off.

RE: Read THIS! (McAfee SiteAdvisor) by Mindless on 10-14-2007 at 11:08 PM

well I see why it won't even make Yellow NOR green... Someone like you goes around, Runs your mouth about a person that does something nice, And makes a good review.. Acting like that, And being an ass, It'll NEVER see yellow or green..

Point being, as long as ad-ware gets packaged with it, IT WILL NEVER see green. Now, If you actually work at other things, and aim for yellow first. MAYBE just MAYBE it will see green. But since you like to act like a tard, That post can be revised, and made MSGPlusLive to look like shit. So Maybe you want to check YOURSELF before posting and being an ass...

how about next time.

"Thanks for the good review! Hope we get it!"

Maybe you'll get nicer responses and get somewhere!

lmao, what a nice young boy you are, filled with a lot of testosterone might I say!!

I did say you deserve a pat on your back, but maybe if you read what you put yourself. You were the one shouting your mouth off.

Look, calm down, relax, have some cheese crackers and tea then come back. You do have gratitude, well done.

I'm a father of 2, one 8 and one 3 :) Just annoys me, That someone can't just say something nice, and instead they just have to dig it apart.

Cheers

I totally understand what you're saying.

I've read what you said, it goes in to a lot of detail, unlike what most people have done here. I just realised this second before you posted you were referring to vaccination, so my bad...

Good on you anyway! I see where you're coming from.

/edit vaccination, dude; I do think a slight apology is in order....?

thank you for the review :).

PS: the sponsor has always been an option, no version was ever distributed, publicly or privately, that would force the sponsor on my users' computers.
