[Release] WLMStatus 1.30.49 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-09-2007 at 10:04 PM

Have you ever asked yourself how you can easy and quick display your Windows Live Messenger Status, your display picture or the music you are currently listening to, on your home page? Let all your friends participate in your life - and they will be able to see that without having to log in to Messenger first...

And that's the way it works:

  1. Do you already have the newest Messenger version? The newest is Windows Live Messenger 2009 (14.0.8064.206) ;)
  2. If not done yet, install Messenger Plus! Live, the best extension library for Windows Live Messenger.
  3. Now download the script WLMStatus, it will be imported in Messenger.
  4. Done! Display your current status by inserting the image address http://wlmstatus.net/status/your_email@provider.com.png as image into your home page or by using it as yur signature in forums etc.
  5. You will find more styles for the status image at http://wlmstatus.net/status/your_email@provider.com-1.png, where you can replace the 1 by any numbers.
  6. The language used for the texts (e.g. "Busy" etc.) is controlled by the domain name of the website in which the image is inserted. :)
  7. Questions? Just mail me; you'll find the mail address within the script (About dialog).

Current functions:

  • Select one of the available styles, or use different ones in different locations
  • Tip: Use style No. 10 as remote avatar, which will always show your current Messenger display image.
  • Mail me to get an individual style too many mails at the moment
  • Image contains your nick,
  • your status (e.g. Busy),
  • your personal status message or the song you're currently listening to,
  • your display picture (uploaded automatically)
  • the date and time you've last updated your status
  • and your messenger email address.
  • support for Music, Office, and Games Icon, e.g. set by AppMon+
  • Use the live image preview within the Image Settings window.
  • Set if you want to show your email address and/or your current media.
  • Set if you want to show your personal status message.
  • Set if you want to show the Last Updated time.
  • Set your current timezone.
  • Instantly copy the image URL, its HTML code, or its BBcode, to the clipboard,
for easy inserting the copied code into your signature in a forum or on your website.
  • Support for Messenger emoticons display in your Display Name and your Personal Status Message
  • Forums for the WLMStatus community to discuss and share ideas
  • Full support for Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Thai characters
  • Create your totally own and personal style by using the WLMStatus XML interface.
  • Use your existing Web2Messenger status script by changing the URL of its status.txt
info retrievement file to the WLMStatus W2M-compatible interface.
  • NEW: Support for showing Messenger colorization and scene as set in Windows Live Messenger 2009.
Have a look at the Premium-only style 65 to see what it could look like.

Sweet. I like it :p

[Image: bc6bf9830f4365db69d6d1350ca360f9-3-en.png]

Suggestion: ^ A style like above that shows what you are listening to when you are....and normal PSM when you are not. I don't like both at the same time :p.

2nd: We can host it all on our server. That'd be better since I own sonicsam.net :p

PS: lol. Your signature totally pwns Web2Live

Great script, (y), But some of the image's are to big therefore the bottom of it is not shown, so maybe just resize them to fit perfectly..

dynamic avatar, nice!

EDIT:

• You absolutely fail at making toasts appear correctly
- I use a double height taskbar and the toast appears half-way through it. :P
• Also they do not stack like WLM's :(
• Also No Emoticons display in the rendered images :(

Otherwise nice work :)

EDIT2:
:O MeEtc stole the status image style I made for him :O heh :P

I'm not in the list either :(

Anyway, nice to see that you could get this out to people. MeEct and I just don't have the resources to be able to get this stuff out to the wider public. Good work on the release and I wish you luck (you'll need it... haha :P).

New Synched/Avatar for me :P (just what I was looking for so thank you!)

Style Suggestion: Create 2 new styles of ONLY the aero box from 19 and 20, with alpha transparency

First of all, thanks for your feedback. Detailed answers and remarks follow.

Suggestion: ^ A style like above that shows what you are listening to when you are....and normal PSM when you are not. I don't like both at the same time :p.
Done now: when you're listening to music, the music is shown, otherwise your PSM. Only the bigger images (that is, -4, -16, -21, -22, -27, -28) have a separate area for the current media.

Will be done when some internal changes on the server code have been done. So that'll be an idea for 1.1.5 or 1.2.

You know, this is because some of the images (in fact, most) have 465 pixels width and 150 pixels height, and msghelp.net's forum contains a CSS rule as follows:
.signature { border-top: 1px dashed #67c1e4; padding-top: 10px; margin-top: 10px; width: 100%; max-height: 125px; overflow: hidden; height: expression(this.scrollHeight>125?"125px":"auto"); }
So this problem will only occur here, as other forums don't use such a max-height.

Otherwise nice work :)
I'll add a checker which tells me what taskbar height you have, and pay attention to it when positioning the toast.
They do stack, but only on each other, not on the original WLM and Plus toasts.
But if there's a registry setting that contains the current number of open Plus or WLM toasts, then I'll let the WLMWebStatus toasts appear on top of them.
(Maybe I could as well use Interop.Call to detect how many windows are open with the class names of the toasts. Does anybody know how to accomplish counting windows with a specific class name? And what's the class name of the (1) WLM, and (2) Plus toasts?)
Plus formatting codes and emoticons will be added sooner or later. What is even more stupid is that there's no real unicode support for the texts on the image; but this will be fixed, too.

Anyway WLMWebStatus has built-in support for AppMon+, so if there's a PSM modified by AppMon+ (or any other similar script, as the info are read directly from Messenger), WLMWebStatus will detect and show the Office or Games Icon altogether with the according text on the status image, too.

I remember well a posting in a thread called Competition for Web2Live... but that was when WLMWebStatus had 900 users, not 46000. I really appreciate your honesty, markee (that's what I always did), and thanks for your congrats - I wouldn't have expected them :).

Just go to the WLMWebStatus Image Settings, the signature URLs waiting there to be copied by you are encoded and don't contain neither your Live ID nor your UserId. In combination with the disabled option "Show my Windows Live ID (email address) on the signature image", in the same window, it will result in best privacy.

I'm always thinking of new styles, and there are already some new ones, but I didn't yet publish them. (So don't wonder e.g. why there's no image -13...).

Bug: Clicking on the tick boxes multiple time (like 10 or more) in succession will leave the toasts on screen and the close button won't kill them, also you can drag them around the screen

as for the stacking, 'yes' it stacks, but very ugly :P

Absolutely brilliant, and well worth the effort you have obviously put into this! Could become one of the greatest scripts released to date. Keep it up! :)

Well, "normal" Plus toasts aren't skinnable, so I developed my own toast extension. I'll see how to make it better; thanks for your note.

Its better you stick with the default toasts that plus provides. Creating your own toasts might be a nice idea, but there many many many issues that might occur.

Oh btw timezones need more options. GTM + 5.5 ,etc
RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by aNILEator on 11-10-2007 at 05:27 PM

Have to agree with felu, there's nothing wrong with the plus toasts really, so unless you have a specific toast design in mind then I'd stick to those :)

Compare the Settings window to the toasts... ;)

And now look at the default Plus toasts:

If now Patchou would finally decide to make toasts skinnable, (and with more than 1 clickable option maybe), then I could skin the default toasts instead of using my own for corporate design purposes.
RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by aNILEator on 11-10-2007 at 06:24 PM

Well hopefully your toast skinning requirements will come soon to msgplus I know some other scripts that would benefit (youtube info script for starters)

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-10-2007 at 06:27 PM

Maybe Patchou will read this thread and have mercy. :D

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by markee on 11-11-2007 at 01:12 AM

Patchou currently loads all of the XML for the interaces when Messenger loads. Even if he fixed up the window to not show the title bar (this may actually be fixed, I'm not sure) then he would stil need to change this problem with the loading. If we could change the interfaces on the fly (or at least the toasts) then it would be great.

You can skin all of the windows at the moment, there are a few minor issues but it is possible to change the look of windows at the moment.

Personally I have tried making toasts before and stopped because it just takes WAY too much to get everything correct, but if you want to do it then go ahead.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-11-2007 at 01:30 PM

I will look into this.

1.1.5 will use <LockOnClick>false</LockOnClick> to preventing toast dragging.

Does anybody know how to find the class names of WLM and Plus toasts? And how to use Windows API to count all that have one of these classes, to know how many toasts are open?

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by markee on 11-11-2007 at 01:41 PM

Won't you still have the problem of others appearing behind or infront of your own toasts?

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by aNILEator on 11-11-2007 at 01:45 PM

I was more worried about the gap between toasts (being all for good design :P), but toasts do also appear in front/behind others occasionally (not that they are accessed often)

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-11-2007 at 01:56 PM

You're right, markee + aNILEator. Maybe it'd really better to rely on original toasts, at least until there's some skinnalibity.
Thanks for your remarks! :)

I'm sorry to tell you WLMWebStatus service is currently not available. Its website is working, and you may download and install the script, but the signature generation and the status updating won't work until the service is back online.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may bring to you.

If you'd like to get informed about details of the being offline, just add me on msnid:mynetx@gmx.de. edit: outdated

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by aNILEator on 11-12-2007 at 12:19 AM

Reason offline = it's a real CPU whore and sam's host didn't like it :P

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by NanaFreak on 11-12-2007 at 05:25 AM

bad luck on it going down...

and this is a good script, it works well, nice work mynetx... just need to work on that CPU issue =\

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Dane on 11-12-2007 at 05:43 AM

I think that you should be able to download the script for Plus! and Server-Side files so we can host it on our own sites if we want :). If I could do that, i'd use it.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by war-chan on 11-12-2007 at 05:37 PM

erm, hi, not sure if this is the proper place to post this but I've got a problem with the script. when I try to use or modify my image settings I get "update error 404"

has anyone else gotten this?
or know how to correct it?

(and do let me know if I've put this in the wrong place, I'm a noob here Dx )

thank you.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by MeEtc on 11-12-2007 at 05:47 PM

Yes. This is expected. The WLMWS server is not available, and are not able to upload settings or display a status image.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by aNILEator on 11-12-2007 at 05:49 PM

the server is down at the moment, so it's not finding itself. we do not know when it'll come online again

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by war-chan on 11-12-2007 at 05:53 PM

Oh, I see, that makes sense then, thank you so much.
I was afraid I did something to it when I reinstalled all my scripts after they magically got deleted.

Glad it's not just me, but I hope it can be fixed soon. = (

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-12-2007 at 07:03 PM

I'm hoping it too, but depends on how fast to find a dedicated server.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by felipEx on 11-12-2007 at 07:45 PM

Suggestion:

Loading images of 'image settings window' in the client side could be better, fast and would help a lot to your server (A)

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-12-2007 at 11:53 PM

I thought it was time for me to keep you updated so far.
Well, I'm currently working hard on a solution whereas I have 2 possibilities in mind, and I have to check them seriously. So nevermind of WLMWebStatus coming to death, it's immortal :D
More news at the appropriate time herein.
Thanks for all the guys who donated so far, although I hope that the number will still increase as to help this script having success.
Regards, mynetx

Thanks to some awesome people I got to know recently, here's good news: the script will be back online within some 72-96 hours. During that time, additional preparations and changes will be made and built into the script to make sure it can stay online for you all.
I will post some news the other day...

Stay tuned, mynetx

Happy to heard that good news... Personally I would want to help with money but here in Venezuela there is a exchange control and dollars are sooooooooo expensive and hard to find... and credit cards are limited by the government... so... :(

UPDATE: WLMWebStatus is coming and many improvements with it :o) trust me... I'm testing some of it right now...

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-15-2007 at 03:35 AM

Now I hope everything is back online and working fine.
Just tell me here if any problems should occur. :)

Have fun with WLMWebStatus, and look forward to some new things coming up soon.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.5 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-16-2007 at 08:12 AM

Today there has been a small update to the server-side code, releasing support for browser caching mechanisms. There is also a second server-side cache in case the browser fails to cache or something unforeseen occurs. Both caches are reset when your status details update, so everybody will nevertheless always see your current status.
Please write a reply here if you detect any problems concerning the cache or any other part of WLMWebStatus.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.5 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by bramvandeperre on 11-18-2007 at 03:27 PM

good job :)

doesn't this release have a new server?

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.5 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-18-2007 at 03:31 PM

The new server has been in service even when 1.1.5 wasn't released yet. pid=862627 ;)

Custom images are HARD for anyone making a script like this. Bandwidth, file size and just the threat of exploitation are 3 good reasons for it to take a while for anyone to implement a feature such as this.
RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.6 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by bramvandeperre on 11-19-2007 at 06:01 PM

i know, markee, but i'm asking mynetx for a long time, and every time he sais soon..

but with the new plans of making an upgraded version of Lcheck, i wont ask it anymore :)

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.6 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-19-2007 at 06:06 PM

Hi Bram,

sorry if it is a bit annoying for you to always get the answer "soon", but markee is completely right: it is very difficult, and nearly un-accomplishable when there are bandwidth limits etc. So I fear this feature will have to wait some time until there is enough revenue to pay the server.
As soon as there are any news, I will instantly inform you all at this location.

Thanks for being such a great community!
Regards, mynetx

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.6 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 11-19-2007 at 08:02 PM

Hi Chunk1993,
due to a limitation in the CSS of GFDD.net made for this forum, the signature can't be higher than 125px. You will have to use a WLMWS style with <= 125px height (e.g. 20) here at msghelp.net. Other forums don't have that max-height limitation.
Regards, mynetx

RE: Server load by mynetx on 11-27-2007 at 11:41 AM

Dear WLMWebStatus users,
sadly I have to tell you that there is an Excessive usage level on the server where the image generator is currently hosted.

  • What happened?
I have a Special Addendum in my Terms of Use version, allowing to have High usage, but Excessive isn't covered, as it affects other users on the server. Therefore, I was urged to close new user adding as well as to cut the current user base down to some ~18,000 users. Also, the violation of the ToS yesterday by excessive usage brought a $12 fee upon me, additionally to some $30 normal server costs per month.

  • Which users have been suspended?
    1. All users who didn't use the script for more than 7 days, and
    2. some more 7,400 users who installed the script recently.
  • Who is left?
Everyone who installed the script longer ago, and kept using it in the last 7 days. You can find out if you still can use it by opening wlmstatus.net/status/<yourmail@provider.com>.png. If you get a message saying "WLMWebStatus isn't installed", you have been cut. If you get the normal blue image (style 0), then everything is fine with your account.

  • How to use the Debug Log?
Go to Messenger Plus! Preferences, then to "General", "Scripts". Activate the checkbox "Enable debugging options", then click "OK". Next, click the Plus! Scripts icon in the contact list's toolbar, and select "Show script debugging". In the select box on the left, choose "WLMWebStatus". Read the messages in there to get a hint.

  • Will the service go offline?
Hopefully not, at least it isn't supposed. That depends much on the server load in the next days.

  • How can I help WLMWebStatus?
    1. Don't use countdown scripts that change your PSM too frequently. Once every 1-2 minutes should be ok.
    2. If you like WLMWebStatus, consider donating using the entry in the Script Menu.
  • I am a PHP programmer and used to speed up existing scripts. Can I help you?
Feel free to tell me some details about you here, and be sure to leave your messenger id.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post in here, and be sure that I will read all posts asap.
Regards, mynetx

The site is timing out here...The nameservers appear to have been changed on Dec. 7th, 2007. So, they should have been propogated/updated by now. Some sort of Server Crash/Error, maybe?

Update: The site appears to have returned online.

Hi
I am not sure if I should donwload the script from
http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/326-WLMWebStatus/

OR from

http://wlmwebstatus.servepics.com/WLMWebStatus.plsc

When I click the above link, it does not give me the script.

If I download the script from the first link and install, it gets installed but when I go to "Image Settings", it gives me error

Update error : 12029

Any help you can provide will be appreciated,

Many thanks,
Regards

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.7 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Dane on 12-14-2007 at 08:57 AM

http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/326-WLMWebStatus/ is the link i'd suggest using. The reason you're receiving error "12029" is because the service that supports the script is having a few intermittenent issues.

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.7 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by sandesh on 12-16-2007 at 01:10 PM

Since last 3 days I am trying to configure my Image Settings. IT keeps giving me error Update error : 12029.

Doesn't look like it could be an issue with service that supports the script. May be it is.

OR could it be that I am doing something wrong?

Just wondering if this has worked for anybody else since last 3 days?

Regards

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.7 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 12-16-2007 at 02:45 PM

Dear sandesh,

you didn't do anything wrong. The image settings window shows error 12029 as the server is not replying. Before the script shows its settings, the current data are retrieved from the server, and this is not working.

To be honest: the server is overloaded with generating images.
I'm currently brainstorming with a friend about solutions. Permanent ones. I'll keep you all updated,

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.7 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 01-23-2008 at 10:34 PM

So, in the meantime, many users have asked me when and if the script will come back (and no, it was not only you, Dane :)).
All I can tell you is that I am currently investigating external servers which will in their total hold the load. So, if you, dear reader, have a server, or a VPS, and still some resources left on it, just feel free to PM me. And: you yourself can control how many users will be assigned to your server.

/edit:
All people giving a place on their server to the script will be mentioned in the software including a banner of their choice (468x60).

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.7 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 02-23-2008 at 10:02 AM

Good news: some 1,000 or even more slots are now free and awaiting you, on 2 servers + 1 extra server. Expect some news about 1.1.8 this week-end.
So far,

RE: [Release] WLMWebStatus 1.1.7 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 03-22-2008 at 08:23 AM

Many of you will think: "One month later, and still no news here?" Well, there are reasons why the 1.1.8 release had been delayed in the last weeks. Nevertheless, the beta testing is still in progress and the last bugs are being removed. But what is even more important: you can do a small part on speeding the release up! "How?", do you ask?

Find image servers! No matter if it is your own hosting or a friend's hosting or a free hoster. If you know somebody in the business who would be able to do you a favor, or if you have a server of your own, why not talk to them or create a subdomain for WLMStatus?
If you've found one, make sure there is FTP, PHP and MySQL support as well as .htaccess allowed. Upload a test .htaccess file with 'Redirect ./ http://www.google.com/ [L]' as contents and call the address of the hosting to make sure the stuff is working correctly. Then tell me the login data using a PM on this forum or an IM (see my Live ID below in the sig). Thanks in advance for your support, as this is a very important part for 1.1.8 release! (just imagine that it'd launch and run out of available user accounts in 2 days...)

Going to be interesting to see if it can be sustained this time, i have become very attached to YASS as it seems to be very stable, i hope WLMWS goes back to its original fame and i may use it elsewhere :)

WLMStatus Server Competition Spring 2008 by mynetx on 04-18-2008 at 07:49 AM

Today I'm happy to announce a special competition for/with WLMStatus, which will take place in the following months: the "WLMStatus Server Competition". Whoever runs a new WLMStatus image server long and stable enough, gets a free 3-months subscription to WLMStatus Premium! So what are the requirements to participate in this competition?

  • Your server must meet the requirements listed on the WLMStatus home page (to repeat, MySQL, mod_rewrite, and some more bandwidth as usually).
  • For participation in the competition, it must support at least 2,000 user slots (my freehoster servers run 500 slots usually).
  • If you want to take part, you have to reply in the corresponding thread in the WLMStatus Forums and contact me on Messenger. You can find my messenger address in my signature and my profile.
  • After WLMStatus files have been installed, the service must run 3 weeks (21 days) without any severe harm on your server. A tracker will be set up to ensure quality and possible downtimes.
  • After 21 days, you qualify for getting into the inner round of choice for WLMStatus Premium.
  • Up to 7 people win a free 3-months Premium subscription. First comes, first wins.
  • To keep your Premium account during that time, you need to keep your image server online. Servers that go offline will make their owners lose the subscription and be downgraded to normal WLMStatus.
Additional notes about the competition, its duration and its official guidelines will be published in the WLMStatus Forums as soon as the competition starts, so keep an eye on them and maybe register there...
This competition will start on April 25, 2008. The exact time is not published to prevent server overloads.

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.19.35 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by ahmetgns on 07-23-2008 at 06:40 PM

Hi, thank you mynetx for this script. I like and use it but now I have a problem.

For a couple of days, the formatting tags of Plus! has started to appear in my status picture (number 0) When I go offline the tags disappear but for other statuses the tags are always there. Is it an unintentional problem or is it intentional to force us to upgrade to wlmstatus premium? :D

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.19.35 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by warmth on 07-23-2008 at 08:54 PM

My friend this is a very discussed "bug" that we find from the beginning of WLMS... and mynetx hasn't able to explain that yet... Last time we talk about it we concluded that maybe was a problem with the remove tag function in MP!L... so indeed was not a WLMS bug... but we can't be sure of that... let see what mynetx has to say about it now... :P

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.19.35 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 07-24-2008 at 07:20 AM

Hello ahmetgns,

you are right that the Messenger Plus format tags can appear on the status images at the moment, occasionally. This is due to an internal structure change and I will work on removing them as soon as possible. This time, it's not a problem of the client script code, and I do know that with my code change on the servers, I caused this to happen. As soon as I fixed the issue, I will inform you two as well as explain what the code change makes possible. :)

Dane, you picked a very unfortunate way to do your maintenance.

Result of loading this thread alone:

Noticed it on Willz's forums too. TBH, every page on the internet where a status badge is displayed is now spawning these nasty dialogs. Would have been better to just deny acces, and do some type of IP restriction if you need to be in there alone.

EDIT: That's better :).

Why is it when you download the current version it downloads a .ZIP file with a load of files instead of the .PLE or whatever the script extension is?

Do you mean when you upload it from the website?

I just tried downloading it from the site (mirror2.download.wlmstatus.net) and it works fine. :)

Also all files are uploaded properly.

This doesn't download the .PLSC file. It's just a .ZIP file with the actual scripting files inside it. The link you posted works for me. Might want to look into that though :).
RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.19.36 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Basilis on 09-09-2008 at 05:36 PM

From RebelSean's link, I can properly download the .plsc file without any problems. Maybe there is a problem with your browser?

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.19.36 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Josh Atkins on 09-09-2008 at 05:44 PM

Interesting, the link on the sitre points to http://download.wlmstatus.net/current/ which points to mirror2.download.wlmstatus.net, when i visit http://download.wlmstatus.net/current/ it shows
[Image: wlmstatus-download-screenshot.gif]

So i dont know where the .zip file has come from, i will check the files for a .zip file.

Hello RebelSean,

Thanks for your report about the wrong file type being recognized for the Script File Download. We have now changed some things on our side. Please let us know if the issue is corrected now, so your browser would download a 'Messenger Plus! Script File' (*.plsc) instead of a *.rar or *.zip.

I'm still being promt to download a .ZIP file, mynetx :S. On IE7 and IE8 beta 2.

Edit: After reinstalling Plus! it's not recognizing the file as a .PLSC. That's odd :S.

Although WLMStatus Free Slots are all tied up, WLMStatus Premium still has well over 975 slots available for use and adds even more functionality to WLMStatus. Activation of WLMStatus Premium is instant, so you can have a working WLMStatus Account in seconds.

More Free Slots will be available as soon as possible.

I am soon to add four images to the servers, they will firstly be uploaded to the premium server sometime and will then be released onto the public servers. Some elements of the images may need tweaking.

Well Dude,

I am running WLM9 too :P, and the reason it works when not using MPL is because, i think, that the script also uses the Windows Live API, so it updates when you login on what ever you login with, i also use Pidgin for my other account as WLM9 doesnt support mutiple accounts and it works!

:D

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.19.36 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 09-19-2008 at 06:18 AM

There has been a build-level update at all image servers. It features the following:

  • Colorized Display Picture frames on all styles, according to your current Messenger status (green = available, orange = away, red = busy, blue = offline / mobile).
  • New buddies and new music icon, matching the style of Windows Live Messenger 2009 Beta.
  • Renamed status "Online" to "Available" in English and "Beschikbaar" in Dutch. Please report the new name of this status for other languages that the new WLM beta is available in.
You are currently testing the new Windows Live Messenger 2009 Beta (14.0.x), or are using an alternative client for accessing the network? You can still have WLMStatus running (partially). Just follow these steps:
  1. Run Windows Live Messenger 2008 (8.5) with Messenger Plus! and WLMStatus installed.
  2. Add your desired signature image code wherever you want to use it.
  3. Opt in for the Windows Live Presence API.
  4. Use whatever Messenger client you like to, including but not limited to the newest Windows Live Messenger Beta. Your signature image will continue to serve updated status and display name, but neither your display picture, personal status message nor current media information. Use the normal Messenger Plus!-powered version to update these.
We are always open to suggestions and awaiting your feedback on these updates!

WLM 9 Beta hasn't been published with Turkish translation yet but probably "Available"s translation will be "Müsait". I am not sure though. We better wait the official release of it.

One thing I want to report is the Turkish translation of Idle status in status pictures. It is currently "PC Boşta" but now I've omitted "PC " from the status name and it should be updated in wlm status translation accordingly.

Another thing is, in that status's Turkish translation, there is a unicode Turkish character and it is displayed wrongly in status pictures like you observe it in bold font in the above paragraph. How you can solve that problem I don't know. You can check Turkish translation file of MsgPlus! for the translation of "Idle" to get that letter correctly, as you know forum doesn't support unicode characters and I didn't want to attach a text file just for that :).

This usually refers to an overloaded image server. Please contact Josh <josh@wlmstatus.net> about this; maybe he can help you.

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.40 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Dane on 10-18-2008 at 08:59 AM

Hello All!

I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on the current status of the WLMStatus Premium service and some of its new features. WLMStatus Premium was launched in March of 2008 to add some exclusive features and allow for 100% uptime of the service by using a server dedicated to paying customers.

As the months progressed, we've been adding features exclusively to WLMStatus Premium and building a great relationship with existing customers of the premium service. In fact, many of those changes and features came directly from existing customers. For example, users told us the 1-2 day wait time for account setup and account setup failure rate was simply unacceptable. We recoded much of the WLMStatus Premium code to automate account setup, as it is now, and implement PayPal into our setup procedure. We now have a 99% success rate in New Account Setups, and most accounts are setup with in 3 minutes of purchasing the activation code.

Another great example of how well we listen to users is our Mobile Website. This was requested several times and was added in the release of WLMStatus Premium 1.1, and is accessible from any web-enabled cell phone, including Apple's iPhone.

Thats a little bit of history for you. Now, for the NEW STUFF :D. WLMStatus Premium just launched a few new features in conjunction with the launch of WLMStatus 1.20. We enhanced our TEXT/XML API for Web Developers so you can now more easily grab your online status, nickname, personal message AND music. This is something we worked for a while on...I've used this API myself to develop a presence widget for my blog. This blog widget is under development still and will eventually be released to our Premium Customers.

Another new feature we launched is CUSTOM IMAGES using Windows Live Messenger 2009 and Messenger Plus! Live 4.80. As Messenger Plus! Live 4.80 is not yet released, functionality is currently limited to colorization...however, as soon as Messenger Plus! Live 4.80 is released you can also use the scenes part of that. We may choose to enhance this feature in the future. You can begin immediatly using this style if you're a premium customer by choosing image style #65.

Last but not least, WLMStatus Premium now continues to function in the event of a main server failure or downtime. This helps us build on our promise to keep WLMStatus Premium online for our paying customers. This functionality is available immediately by upgrading to 1.20.

I will leave you with this statement. We've added a lot to our Premium-Enhanced script, but this is just the beginning. We want to make WLMStatus Premium truely the best available premium Windows Live Messenger addon for displaying your display pic and status. Josh Atkins and mynetx work hard with me week after week to ensure that we're adding what you're requesting and we think you deserve that level of commitment.

If you have any concerns, problems, or suggestions, please feel free to private message me or email dane@wlmspremium.net.

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.41 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 12-01-2008 at 09:38 PM

Hey guys!

Here are some fresh news out of the oven. As you have probably already noticed in the newsfeeds etc, Microsoft is rolling out a new design on all Windows Live related websites, such as Hotmail, Spaces, Photos, Events and Calendar.

Furthermore, it is not only a new design that is changing and modernizing in this “Windows Live Wave 3”, but there are also many new things being incorporated, such as the brand new Profile and Group pages altogether with some omnipresent “What's new” feeds to keep you updated with anything you might need or want to know about your friends and their daily life.

As WLMStatus is also related to Windows Live, and the first design changes are rolling out since this December 1st (which will last until December 7th), we have also rolled out the long prepared update to our WLMStatus website and we hope you like it. The WLMStatus Premium website has also been updated thanks to the combined forces of Dane the magician (lol).

We'd really appreciate if you give us feedback on the new design as well as suggestions on how to make it match the official designs even better! Of course, translation offers are also welcome if the site should not yet be available in your language.

I'm a magician now?? Cool! As mynetx was saying, we've begun rolling out the new sites and such, and WLMStatus Premium is also having monthly prices drop to $1.99/mo. EVERY month beginning January 2009 and theres tons more Premium-Only features coming on top of the new Free features. WLMStatus Premium is now used by Web Radio Stations and Hosting Support Companies as well...and the free version is used by so many people. It's an awesome script, and i'm glad we can keep updating it! Please give us any feedback you feel we need.
RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.42 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 12-31-2008 at 08:06 PM

Hey guys!

There I am back, having 4 news for you, and 2 announcements.

First, I'm glad to announce that WLMStatus 1.20.42 has been released as a minor update and features a refresh of the window looks, matching the Wave 3 design of Messenger, as well as correcting some small bugs and removing the old-style updater.

This brings me to the second point. This update shows you a message box once at updating or when installing WLMStatus from scratch. That's because the team investigated compatibility with the Windows Live Messenger 2009 RC, released on December 15. It reads: "WLMStatus does work with your current Messenger version, however you cannot access the program menu nor any of the dialog boxes. If you need support on how to use WLMStatus nevertheless, refer to support@wlmstatus.net and we will be glad to help you out." So, if anybody wants to have their image settings changed urgently, PM me or anybody else in the team and we will fix it asap.

The third point is that the new pricing for WLMStatus Premium (2009Q1; $1.99/month) applies to all bills issued from midnight onwards, as Dane already spotlighted in his posting before mine.

And finally the fourth - What can you expect from WLMStatus in 2009? While I don't want to tell too much in advance, I can say that the development team is already working on some new features for WLMStatus Premium (like custom backgrounds).

Announcement 1: The WLMStatus Team would like to announce a new cooperation with MessengerDiscovery. This Messenger add-on is currently being reprogrammed from scratch and going toward a public beta soon. WLMStatus will be offered to all MessengerDiscovery users soon. I cannot talk about further details of this cooperation, but I am sure this enhances the feature set of MessengerDiscovery 2 .NET. I will announce more info on this at a later time.

Announcement 2: mynetx Creations announces the development start of a new Web Messenger whose codename is "Tsukai". Its real name is already chosen but I won't tell it yet... It will feature MPOP, tabbed chatting and more stuff out of the set of features you like to see, and why you are using Messenger Plus! in your normal client. More info on this as well at a later time.

So far for now,
mynetx

Are the servers unstable?
My avatar is from WLMStatus, as yours... and frequently both just don't show up =X neither does http://wlmstatus.net/

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.43 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 01-14-2009 at 07:31 AM

Really? I get a report weekly, and last week it showed 100% uptime... Please post any details on the issue(s) you experience, if you know any.

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.43 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Spunky on 01-14-2009 at 07:56 AM

Looking at this post, mattumanutd's avatar and sig are missing. Yours are not however.

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.43 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 01-14-2009 at 08:17 AM

Well Spunky, WLMStatus is using a server cluster, and currently Server 12 is down. However this should in no way affect the displaying of the www.wlmstatus.net website.

We're currently in touch with the hoster of that server to get it fixed, up and running again asap. :)

Last time, my signature took about 5 hours to update (I was showing a fireworks image to a frined, and it was in my sig and avatar for the whole day... although I only used for 1 min); mattumanutd's sig and avatar almost never shows, as stated by spunky, not so frequently (about twice a week), www.wlmstatus.net doesn't open, Chrome just tell me the server is busy, and really frequently my avatar and yours disappear at the same time =)

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.20.43 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 01-19-2009 at 03:52 PM

Hey Canaris101,

We're currently performing internal system maintenance, started yesterday and will go on through the next few days. As a result of this, we're turning off support for WLMStatus 1.1.8 and 1.19. We're also resynchronizing the server clusters with the main server so the user databases match again.

After this maintenance is done, we will prepare to put things together for WLMStatus 1.21. This version will feature

  • a switch to turn off updates for a specific Windows Live ID (in case you use Messenger with more than 1 account),
  • as well as a built-in security system for the mynetx AutoUpdater. We will announce more info on this system in the release notes for 1.21.

These were the new things to expect on the client side. What happens to the server code at the moment?
  • At the moment, we're working on updating the Premium style 65 to match the Windows Live Messenger 2009 contact list window more.
  • We also recently released the Finnish version of the WLMStatus website, thanks to the translation efforts of Olli.
  • And, finally, we're working on improving the display of nicknames and personal messages. This includes getting a better alignment for emoticons as well as parsing font format codes.

What does failed to validate download signature means?

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.30.49 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Han on 09-28-2009 at 07:07 PM

I'm kinda wondering the same as newcastle ^above^.

Why do I keep getting the "Failed to validate download signature." pop-up message everytime after I sign into WLM(2009)?

Everything was fine until a couple months ago I think, which was around the time when I needed a fresh reinstall of my OS, it was on 5th july or so. I'm not a 100% sure but my feelings tell me it has nothing to do with the reinstall since it worked perfectly before and afterwards, for a short period anyway. Right after that, I always get this "Failed to validate download signature" pop-up. Oh and if you're wondering, I did a completley fresh install of WLM, MPL & MDL + the specific add-ons. I couldn't get any help at their support page so I came here. It's kinda getting annoying to see it pop up every f***ing time... :@! Oh well...

Any tips will be greatly appreciated! TIA.

Hello Newcastle and Han,

Thank you for reporting this bug, we have recently become aware of this error and are working to fix it. The big will be fixed in the next release of WLMStatus.

Sorry for any inconvenience this maybe causing you.

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.30.49 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by Han on 09-29-2009 at 06:32 PM

Thank you for your prompt answer, Josh!

Well, seems like I've to wait until the next release. I'm kinda a impatient person, lol. But since it is free I can't ask you developers for anything more. :P BTW, can animated (since WLM9) profile pictures cause this problem or are they being shown as stills?

Thanks again for the quick reply!

RE: [Release] WLMStatus 1.30.49 - Easy Web Display of your Messenger Status by mynetx on 09-30-2009 at 10:22 AM

Hey Han,

For the moment I cannot tell you more than that we are in the process of recoding part of the server-side image display and we cannot release a new client version until this process is finished. For the animated display pictures (DDP), they are always shown as still images in WLMStatus.

Thank you again for your patience!
Best,
mynetx
