I have a problem, and I need help! by ReaperJosh on 11-13-2007 at 01:54 PM

Here is my problem - I once uninstalled Messenger Plus, [the version for MSN 7.5 and downwards,] when I had it, and then, when I booted up my computer, a message came up, saying "A version of Messenger Plus has been removed. Please download and install the setup package." with an Ok button, and so I did, downloaded Messenger Live! and I was on my way, thinking that the message would not appear again.

It did, the next time I turned on my computer.

I have Messenger Plus Live! installed correctly on my computer (without the sponsor, if that helps) and the message above is still appearing.
And, the problem is, even if I click 'X' on the message, a link still comes up, redirecting me to the Download Page of Messenger Plus Live!.
How can I fix this problem, and stop the message from appearing? [That's if it is fixable?]
Thank you very much.

PS. Sorry for the long post guys. :-#

First off that's not a long post at all my friend ;)

Are you still using MSN 7.5 or have you upgraded to WLM 8.X?

If you're on MSN 7.5 > then you will need to download plus from http://msgpluslive.net/download/old/

MP!L is only for WLM 8.0 <

I am currently running on 8.5 WLM.
But when I uninstalled the Msg Plus originally, I was running 7.5.
Do you reckon it has anything to do with that?

Have you tried uninstalling everything and then re-installing WLM8.5 then MP!L4.3?

Are you running any anti-virus/spyware programs that have blocked or attempted to remove messenger plus? (possibly from an earlier install with sponsor software)

If so you may need to uninstall plus, re-install with sponsor ware, then unistall again, then re-install without the sponsorware.

I uninstalld WLM8.5 and MP!L and re-installed and still the same.

I checked my Norton - that is definately not blocking it. I also turned off my firewall - and the message still appeared.

It's a tricky one.
