Bluetooth hacked.. by Hotdeal on 11-16-2007 at 12:53 AM

Recently A person came up to me and told me to turn on my bluetooth
After that he added me as a favorite Devices,
So he told me to put in the pin key "1234" since it asked for it
After that i got a message saying
"Use phone as moden"
I was just like "Sure"
and then he had complete control over my phone
He had all my contacts
Whatever text messages were sent to me went to him
If he called it used my minutes
After that I turned off my bluetooth and deleted him as a contact
Can you please tell me how he did this and if i'm still at risk?
He used a sony ericsson w800i
I have a sony ericsson z520a

he didn't hack anything, you gave him access when you gave him your pin

Professional Hustler. Simple as that. By setting your phone's bluetooth visibility to hidden it can make it harder for your phone to be exposed to hustlers

It is a real shame that bluejacking is becoming more popular :(

I read up more on this and apparently it's called "Bluesnarfing"

Maybe you shouldn't have been so naive.

The other day, I was walking down the street, and some guy came up to me
He asked me to give him my credit card.
And I was like ok
then he bought stuff with my card
and stole my identity
and took out more credit cards
and ruined my life.

Hey man
I was curious
I somewhat know him anyway
It's no biggie
I was just wondering how he did it

This is indeed getting more and more popular as multi-function phones are getting more and more populars.. My advice is to keep your bluetooth off unless needed.

It's not new either. When I first got my K750i back when it came out, I got a program called Bloover and I could rip quite a lot of files off people's phones. Without their consent - there was originally a bug in the way Bluetooth was implemented.

I also tried, for the lulz, to try and get this girls phone I know to phone mine, so her number would come up on the screen. It worked, and I was well chuffed. She wasn't impressed. :(
