Try renaming the folder where WLM is installed then install the new version of WLM.

Don't forget to put the "msimg32.dll"-loader (from Messenger Plus!) in your 8.5 directory, otherwise Messenger Plus! won't load.

didnt work, should i uninstall 9.0 and then do 8.5, and then re-install 9.0?

I tried renaming 8.5 folder, then installed 9.0.

Had two folders 8.5 and 9.0, but when I try to load 8.5 it crashes ...

When u first install 8.5 and then 9.0, ur old 8.5 gets overwritten totally by 9.0

MSN Messenger versions until Windows Live Messenger 8.1 all install in the MSN Messenger directory of your Program Files. Windows Live Messenger 8.5 and above install in Windows Live\ Messenger. Apply this knowledge to the posts above and you should be able to install two different versions of Messenger :).

You could always install Virtual PC 2007 (free download from MS) and install the Beta on that and leave 8.5 as it is.

Its fairly simple to setup Virtual PC, but takes some time as you basically have to install Windows on the Virtual HD, unless you download a VHD image also available from MS, then it runs straight out the box so to speak.

You can use WLM Lite 8.5. You can run Windows Live Messenger 8.5 without needing to install it. I'm not sure though if Messenger Plus! Live will work with it. Download it from MsgShit.com.
