[help] Audio Drivers by kezz on 12-11-2007 at 12:50 AM

I recently started up my computer to find that my sound wasn't working. "Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Hardware Tab" told me that my 'C-Media AC97 Audio Device' wasn't working properly. I am on Windows XP Pro SP2. Does anyone know how to fix the driver or where I can get it from?

Got any info on your pc? (model, running which OS, etc.)

EDIT: Could still do with the info, but give this a shot...

Does a driver error mean I need to:
a) reinstall/update/fix software on the computer
b) physically take the case off my pc and make sure stuff is plugged in correctly
c) other?

And what are CODECs, and could they be causing the problem?

Firstly try downloading the driver Inferno suggested.

Codecs: Any type of format used to compress a file to a smaller size. MP3 and WMA are examples of codecs.
