Here comes Vista SP1 by Jhrono on 12-16-2007 at 01:55 AM

... but it still is a Release Candidate.

Information : http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=936330

Download : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?F...91c&DisplayLang=en

I had to RMA my motherboard so I can't try it for now, but as soon as I get it I'll hit back with my opinions :)

Indeed...I'm using it.  I love Vista SP1, its so better than Vista RTM in terms of boot times and such...Hibernation seems to be faster as well, All in All, its a good release.

Not installing it here because my new PC is on the road being shipped to me now :banana:

But when my new PC arrives. Get ready for SP1 :drool:

* Chris4 spanks Vista on the head

* Chris4 is using XP SP3 :refuck:

RE: Here comes Vista SP1 by Jesus on 12-16-2007 at 09:52 AM

So, with this SP1, can you disable UAC without getting this über-annoying nag balloon telling you that "your system is in great danger" without having to disable the entire security center?

and

Can you use vLite to remove (ao) Windows Defender and still be able to install language packs?
a quick look on their forums taught me they kind of solved this already

if so, I might consider the switch to Vista...

Well, i like this guy. Roll out Windows XP SP3...looking forward to seeing even better stability and speed right there ;)

Personally, I won't go near Vista with a ten pole stick until SP1 has been out for at least two months. and even then, gotta waste all those system resources on DRM checking? Geez.

Ha let's test and see how accurate MS was saying "We've blocked all piracy methods of using vista" (a)

When you mention that, I'm not sure if I want to test. (a)

:-/ just go into the security center and click "change the way security center alerts me" and then just change it to dont notify or whatever :P

I don't know why people complain about vista so much i've been using it since it was in alpha and beta and now released and now with SP1.

Windows defender removed? - its added security doesn't do much harm. in fact i use one care on my pc. does what it says on the tin.
But then again i believe the best way to stop virus's is to do with the person using the computer and not to rely on software. Only virus i had was blaster worm and only way to stop it or prevent it was to have a router, which wasn't to popular for home use or need around that time.

Yes vista can be annoying UAC control is bit annoying but turn it of issue solved.

It does things for me jsut as fast as my xp machine does. When it comes to encoding videos etc etc. so althou looks like it use alot memory it doesnt effect it as much as you think i use 2GB(i use xp with 2GB, the speed isn't much better).

But it comes down to - if its not broke dont fix it.

I use xp in work vista at home. once your use to vista you don't really notice the issue or the differencies.

Glad SP1 is out i hope they've fix the disk to disk transfer speed, copy and pasting speeds etc etc.

SP1 is definitely more faster and smoother.
* Felu likes SP1

OH god i forgot about those, jeez the copy paste is terrible, usually skips stuff and doesn't warn you, I lost sooo much stuff, thank god for Recuva, otherwise I would have lost all my 18th Birthday videos and photos
RE: Here comes Vista SP1 by andrewdodd13 on 12-18-2007 at 01:11 PM

I installed it on my laptop.

It's kinda worrying how it says:
Windows Vista (TM)
Evaluation copy. Build 6001

in the bottom right...

Yea same thing here, though it shows Verified/Activated status in System Properties. I don't think there is anything to worry about...
