My new XP "Royale Live" skin based on the default theme for Windows XP Media Center Edition.

I had some lots of help from aNILEator and .typeZERO (davidpolitis), and the resources were from the official Energy Bliss MCE theme (MSSTYLES) and shell32.

UPDATE! I have found a nifty little program called AlphaConv, which is the key to a lot of the images in the MSSTYLES (the world needs more BMP32 support ), so I'm going to start up work again on RoyaLive!. I'm estimating it will take me an immense amount of time to do both, but when it's done it will be worth it.

SO -- Here is what's happening:

RoyaLive! - v2 Released

ZuneLive! - v1 Released

Don't use a patched messenger to skin on. If you are changing any UIFiles you will need to use the original unmodified resources (which can only be extracted correctly if you are using an unpatched messenger at the time you extract the resouces).

If it's going to be a publicly distributed folder you need to use the Definition/Style files from the Windows folder inside the Resources folder. The ones in Consolidated are (mostly) ment to help you find things easier.

Looks good, got to say though that the image for the chat window toolbar background looks nasty though , maybe recreate that one, or edit it slightly, it seems too stretched out.

Excellent job on this skin, Ryxpia.  Is this skin WLM 8.5 compatible only at this time?

Unfortunately, since i don't have WLM 9.0 to test it on, it will be 8.5 only unless i really like the new version.

Now you can follow my tutorial for min,max,close buttons and add XP royale style buttons

1) Photoshop or any image editor -> Save As .xyz

2) Screenshot the resources and edit the resources in image editor of your choice.

I'm new to Photoshop and all my other image editors don't support 32bit bmps

But good idea about the screenshots, I'll try that.

I'm not back on my normal computer till the new year but I have a modded royale theme on this PC from XPize and thought that this image would suit as the heading for the chat window or contact list window.

You might want to resize it

Sorry for double post, but from the same logon for Royale, this might make a good main background image.

P.S. These would have been what I'd've  used if I did go ahead and make this skin

P.P.S: take note I edited out the text with MSPaint so if you're really picky you may see some slight blocks where the colour doesn't quite flow where I've just dragged the current colours across over the existing text/Images/Logos. But it's still fairly good

I think they would look better using Windows Live Messengers own, or something a little better.

Not sure the Media Center Icon in the corner is needed, as Messenger is not a really any sort of Media Center, it doesn't really fit that well...
but the royale look and colors look really nice.

You can probably take some resources out of these themes and make a really great multi colored skin.

Royale and Royale Modified XP themes are the best.
I'm glad this Skin was made.
A few color options would rock, seeing as you'll be looking at that Modded Royale Theme, it should give you some ideas.

Colorization btw thanks for the link artfuldodga, I especially like the Black & Blue Substyle I may make a skin out of it.

A new version (1.1) is being planned, with full colorization, royale style minmaxclose buttons, scroll bar buttons and corresponding arrows, and some more. Wally, you'll also know what'll be in the next version

EDIT: I'll make the DP containers a bit thinner, as they seem kind of obnoxious now... Bah.

LunaLive!* is now filed under "Planned"

DP Containers - Same thickness as the Container in the main window, I wouldn't go any thinner than this.

If you're making the buttons the same as the MCE Royale style, don't forget they have to be able to resize according to the size we all have set in our Windows Theme. You know so the buttons in Messenger aren't huge or off looking compaired to the rest of Windows.

There is a slight design problem when you are viewing someones webcam using the 'Large' size view, the boarder of the DP Container is not done properly, at least it doesn't look right on my end.

Will this skin's bugs ever be fixed? And not to sound bitter but here is a thought, don't put out a skin if you aren't going to support it... at all apparently.

Everyone has the right to put out a skin. He is not obliged to support it at all. If you don't like it, you are free to use an other skin with no bugs or sth. And you forgot the fact that Ryxpia may not have time to support it. He released on Christmas, when he had time.
