Ok weir bug in WLM 8.5...Office instead of hotmail by :No-Frost: on 01-04-2008 at 09:19 PM

When I click on the icon to open my hotmail account, sometimes doesn't do anything... But today is doing something pretty weird...

Instead of opening Hotmail in my default browser (using stuffplug it opens in Opera), it's loading Microsoft Office 2007...

So, how can I fix this mmm bug???:S:S:S

Change your default email client to Windows Live Mail by going to
Control Panel>Internet Options>Programs tab
There you can change the Mail dropdown to contain Windows Live Mail.

This should solve your problem, which is not a bug by the way.

MMm Found it but no success...

I found that the problem is in the HTML editor...

It shows notepad, exel and office... Right now it shows Office... When I changed it to Notepad instead of opening Office it opens notepad...

So, is there a registry trick or something???

You can try this, I am not sure:

In registry go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows Live>Communication Clients>Shared

Here if there is a "Mail Install Root" key, remove it. (now try if it is solved)

If there is a value for "Mail Primary Account" key, remove only the value (not the key itself) (now try if it is solved)

hmm that's strange, could be a bug indeed...
I use WLM 8.1 so that might be why the solution I mentioned didn't work for you.
What in the world has an HTML editor got to do with reading emails? :S

Does this problem also occur on a clean, unpatched WLM 8.5 without any addons installed?
In that case I think it should be reported to Microsoft.
