Don't know then sorry (you'd be amazed by the amount of people who asked me that whilst running XP so its practically routine I ask that back lol)

RE: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 by Wally on 01-05-2008 at 04:52 AM

i didn't download it the exe was given to me by a friend  and it installed on his just fine, he never told me where he got it. :undecided:

Is it "Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) Release Candidate (RC)" ?

If so, you can download from the Microsoft site here or Windows Update.

I know you already have it, but it's probably best you download it from the correct place, so hopefully you won't receive any errors. (yn)

well its just the service pack its self the file is about 700meg and the file name is "windows6.0-kb936330-x86'

It's probably not compatible with your computer.

From what Google tells me, x86 is Intel and x64 is AMD.

Good luck ;)

HAHA x86 means 32 bit and x64 is 64 bit i got the 86x version because my OS is a 32 bit one :P

I havent heard anything about Windows Vista SP1 Key Blacklisting, but also be sure you're using a Genuine Version of Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate.

Why don't you use the proper method of updating and use Windows Update, or at least read official documentation like the link which Chris4 posted?

Some SP1 packages needs several other updates to be in place before you can install it.

And SP1 also comes in different 'flavors' (to make it all a bit more complicated), eg: you have standalone packages, packages which don't include other prerequisite packages, then there are different ones for different sets of languages, etc. Aka, one SP1 is not the other SP1!

try the official SP1 (all languages) package: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?f...-9D6D-50FE9461F808

Or Windows Update to properly install the correct package(s) you need.

It's probably because you can't just install the SP1, windows update makes you download several updates first before downloading and installing SP1
