I am having problems using all of the functions for messenger plus. It has installed ok, but I can't see my contacts' names in colour and also can't send emotion sounds; I can receive sounds ok.
I have searched the forum and uninstalled smiley central and followed the step-by-step instructions, such as uninstalling everything and then re-instaling (about 4 times!) but it hasn't fixed the problem. Help!

When it loads up, does the Plus Icon add itself to the toolbars and do you see the "Plus!" dropdown menu next to "Help" on the menubar?

Yes, everything looks as it should (I've compared it to somebody elses!) but I don't seem to have all the functions

What version of Windows Live messenger and Messenger Plus! Live do you have?

Are you running Windows Vista?

sometimes Plus doesnt install correctly on Vista if it isn't installed as administrator

I am an administrator, is there anything I can do?
I've uninstalled and installed this so many times!

Uninstall Messenger Plus Live, then download the install file again and save it to your computer

Then right click on it and choose "run as administrator" and install it that way and see if it works.

Please also refrain from double/triple posting, people will respond to you, we don't just leave you hanging

Do you have Windows Blinds?  this can also interfere with Messenger Plus

It's a programme to add graphical attributes to Windows.

I'm just trying to think of all eventualities as it is a very strange problem which you are experiencing.

Can you get into the Messenger Plus preferences window?

Does ANY aspect of Messenger Plus work properly?

Yes, I can get into the preferences window.
Yes, some aspects are working, extra colours etc, although I haven't tried everything.
I can receive the emoticon sounds from my contacts, but can't send them, it sort of sends them in the old style, with a devil picture and no sound (if that makes sense?)


By the way, I don't appear to have anything called Window Blinds.

I know I shouldn't double-post, but everything I've tried hasn't worked and I've had no other suggestions, so I give up!

Just wondered if anybody has come up with a wonderful way of solving my problems!
