Video Messaging/Calls Over MSN & iChat by bio_hazard13 on 01-16-2008 at 09:59 AM

I have relatives in the UK who own mac's and talk to each other over iChat.  My mum was just over there and wants to set it up so we can talk to them as well.

The problem is we don't have any mac's at home, only microsoft pcs.  Is it possible to link up to someone who is using iChat with some program on a windows machine, like windows live messenger or something else

Cheers in advance

Apparently you can with AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)

AIM to please.

iChat works with AIM, the largest instant messaging community in the U.S. You and your buddies can be either AIM or .Mac users. Text, audio, and video chat whether your buddies use a Mac or a PC. Sign in with your AIM account, and all your buddies appear in your iChat buddy list.

Of course knowing how dodgy companies can be at times in order to sell products, I wouldn't be surprised if this only means that they can show themselves to you, not a two-way system. Not sure if this is the case, just mere speculation.

Use Skype. In my opinion Skype is superior for audio/video calls. There are versions for both Mac and Windows.
