when my friend says hello on msn messenger his box comes up and it plays approx 5secs of a song how do u go about doing that and where can i get the track im after

You yourself can set an Event notification through Plus! to make this happen for any contact you wish. This will only play at your end tho, you can't set it to play on somebody elses computer.

This is a new feature in Windows Live Messenger 9. It's in Beta, and remember that only Windows Live Messenger 9 users will hear it.
Check the option-dialog for Windows Live Messenger, I think it's there somewhere.
