it's a pretty good price but if you could put a little more towards getting an 8800 i'd do it

Don't they cost like 500 dollars a pop (aussie dollars)

What do you plan on using the computer for..?

If you want to play games on it pay a little more for a better graphics card.. The 3850 go for around $200-250 and perform very decent for that price.

Also tell them you want free shipping and a few bucks off, so if its $874.50 AUD you say you want it for $850 with free postage. Most companys wouldn't refuse if you are going to be spending that much.

Ok i have updated the post, changed to E8200 intel card, Graphics card is definately a no go because of pricing, ram sticks removed as i have my own DDR1 2gig sticks, and downgraded to 120GB HDD.

RE: New PC..Thoughts... by Phillip on 02-03-2008 at 01:26 PM

That motherboard will not support DDR1. I would defiantly save a little more money if I was you.

i have a couple of questions/suggestions:
isnt the hard drive a little small?
DDR1 ram is a little old, for 60 dollars you can get 2gb DDR2 i recommend that
How much is the graphics card? do you need 512mb card? will DDR3 graphics card work with your motherboard/processor/ram??

He will need DDR2 as I have already stated. $60 is for cheap generic ram. I would always pay a little extra for quality chips. ie micron.

512mb of ram on a gfx card is plenty and if he plans on getting a bigger monitor later on then 512mb of ram will be needed to run games at higher resolutions alot more efficiently. Yes this gfx card will work with his mobo.
RE: New PC..Thoughts... by Eddie on 02-04-2008 at 09:11 AM

I currently have a monitor that runs a resolution of 1280x1024 with no problems [21 or 22" not quite sure], i dont think i will go any bigger than that monitor wise lol, i will buy some new ram as suggested and have changed my mind and am getting the Radeon that was suggested, and i would do a build myself, but im not to confident with putting a pc together. Personally i also feel that the HDD is fine, as im currently using a tiny 60GB HDD and its 90% full, im sure i can handle a 160GB HDD pretty well.

RE: New PC..Thoughts... by Phillip on 02-05-2008 at 01:50 PM

RE: New PC..Thoughts... by Eddie on 02-05-2008 at 02:48 PM

You could save a little bit of money. See if there is a similar motherboard that has an integrated network adaptor ($10 - $30 saved). Also, look out for hard disks on special/clearance at the same and other computer shops ($5 - $50 saved).

One concern i have with that system is the PSU. Intech is a brand I've never heard of, and a price search shows that it's not widely available, but is very cheap ($50). You might want to choose a different case/PSU or buy the same case but also buy a better PSU.
