whats a good test to see if my drive is f*cked?

it burns, no buffer underun or whatever... says successful, but when i put the disc into my dvd player it says no disc. when i put it in the laptop it shows theres a disc but its blank. ARGH! it burn loads of files, but was a bit funny. now i did this dvd and the disc is apparently blank. >.<

i hope its not broke, i bought the damn drive because my other drive was dead?!

this may be an extremely stupid and obvious question, but i'll ask it anyway...your not running a simulation are you? lol

Well, if the problem had only occured with your DVD player, I'd recommend you to change the format PAL-X <-> NTSC.
However you're saying it also happens with your notebook, so I don't know what to do.

I searched Google, without success :(

Did you close the disc? Or the session at least?

its like 1 in 3 work... i put some files on a dvd disc and that failed first time aswell. just makes me think is it failing because my computer is a heap of shit or because of a busted up drive

nero and convertxtodvd

i think it may be something to do with the discs, if i put a blank one in my other pc, it refuses to accept that theres a disc in the drive, but if i put anything else in there it works fine. :S!!!

you could also try to burn them at a lower speed to get better results.

but yeah, change brands :P

Use Disc brand - taiyo yuden

Thats the best disc brand on the market.
Even if you go to ConvertxtoDVD forum you'll be told to change to those :)

By far the best.

I dunno, There just best branded disks to use.
No you don't have to get them from Japan.

I work for software company and we use those branded DVDs and CDs.

There highly recommend. Quite simpley best discs i've used.

Just check for a firmware upgrade too for the drive... Completley fixed my DVD Writer with the same problem :p

Read and implement this: The golden rules of burning. Only use ImgBurn to burn :)

If you are still getting problems then post back.
