Always wanted to know this by honsbeek on 03-05-2008 at 02:19 PM

Hi ,

I've always wanted to know how to tweak this .
When in a conversation and sending a photo, the file search window pops up.
Then we search the folder and search the file and click OK /
However I wish to send another file from the same folder, but msn file search window resets to the standard "My documents" , how can I let the program remember the previous location, so I don't have to repeat the file search each time///

Thanks

Simply make a Shortcut of your desired folder in My Documents, and that should fix the trouble :P

*-)

There is an easier way of sending multiple files from a folder

Just go to the folder

Select all the files you want to send (hold down ctrl and click on easy one)

Then drag and drop into where you type your message in on the conversation window

other than selecting more than one file within the dialog (using CTRL and SHIFT buttons, and only IF the application allows it (it must call the dialog with the multi-select flag being set); and Messenger does _not_ do this),...... other than creating a shortcut to your photos in the my documents folder (doesn't always work either; some applications consider a shortcut as a file also),...... other than tweaking the sidebar of the file search dialogs (you can do this by using TweakUI or doing the nessecairly registry changes yourself (pretty easy actually),... remembering where you were the last time is an application-specific thing.

That is, it is the application which calls the open/search file dialog which needs to set a certain parameter flag to the dialog call, so it remembers your last location. If the application doesn't do this, you can't simply "tweak" it to let it do this (unless you patch that application, but even then it might be that the application explicitly sets a default folder to start the search in each time it calls the dialog)....
