RE: the best city to live by markee on 03-19-2008 at 09:01 AM

Personally I would like to visit New York and possibly live in London for a while, but the likes of Sydney (note the spelling, and without "City" afterward) is more expensive than Brisbane, and more people are leaving there and coming here.... 8-)

Toronto wouldn't be too bad either, but I think I would have to visit there before making any decisions.  Mexico however has never really interested me (actually none of the central or southern americas ever have thb).

RE: the best city to live by aNILEator on 03-19-2008 at 09:22 AM

City 17, it's safer there. :P

All have their pros and cons, London has almost everything in it's own little sections, Camden being my favourite.
Sydney is really really nice, I absolutely loved visiting it, whether it's the same living there I dunno, I'd have to see
Never been to New York, Mexico or Canada, I'd like to visit Canada though because patchou owes me dinner :P

yeah that sentence makes sense none (doesn't seem to be finished properly :P)

I aparantly have an auntie of some kind in Canada, and my dad's friends are friends with the peple who invented 'Lush cosmetics stores' (they sell soaps mainly and other things that give men headaches from the smells as they walk down the highstreet and the shops doors are wide open) they moved to Canada

RE: the best city to live by Adeptus on 03-19-2008 at 10:05 AM

Of the choices you listed, Toronto would be the only consideration.  You couldn't pay me enough to live in any of the other places you named.

Places not on your list where I'd be interested to live for at least some time:

- St. Petersburg, Russia
- Visby, Sweden
- Island of Corfu, Greece

RE: the best city to live by andrewdodd13 on 03-19-2008 at 10:43 AM

I don't know where I'd like to live.

I actually hear Dublin is quite nice.

Edinburgh and Glasgow are pretty nasty places at night, I don't think I'd like to live in the centre of these cities.

I've not really been far afield so I couldn't say where I'd like to live when I'm older. New York looks great, but you hear all the stories about how it's all gridlocked in the centre, sounds nasty.

I actually think I prefer the countryside. :)

I live in London at the moment, and I love it. It has one of the best skylines ever, you've got really magnificent and old buildings like St. Paul's right next to modern buildings like the London Eye, which you just don't get anywhere else.

London

New York City

The New York skyline is very nice, but most of the buildings are relatively recent and so you don't really have as much diversity as you do with London. Even going on the underground is amazing, it is the worlds oldest metro system and some of the stations look amazing

Canary Whart Tube Station

Plus the fact that it is arguably the capital of the world.
RE: the best city to live by Eddie on 03-19-2008 at 01:45 PM

I have to agree London is an awesome place, but boy is it an expensive place to live :(

I have only ever left Wales once and that was on a school trip to London (visited a history museum [saw Jeremy Clarkson there too] and went on the London Eye), I really liked it though.

RE: the best city to live by vaccination on 03-19-2008 at 07:18 PM

Friend of mine is moving to Canada this winter. I'd like to visit Canada, but not live there.

I think I'd like to visit Australia and a few places in America(NY, Florida(again), California and LA(again))

But to live, mm, I'm not sure:P

You need to learn we like our spellings in this community, unlezz we iz d3lerbrateli duin it :P although we're pretty sure you're referring to Sydney, the City in Australia. We're just joking that you spelled it Sidney City, and added Melbourne into the list and didn't correct Sidney whilst you were in edit mode
RE: the best city to live by Svip on 03-19-2008 at 11:51 PM

It's all a matter of opinion, for me it's Copenhagen.  I could never imagine living somewhere else.  I may have better chances other places, but I will always come back to this place.

This city just puts a smile on my face. :)

the air in sydney is chewy, don't move to sydney from the country or you'll suffocate

RE: the best city to live by Ezra on 06-14-2008 at 01:08 AM

Amsterdam is on the 18th place :)

I love this city, but I'd like to live in New York, London, Sydney, Paris or Rome too.

RE: the best city to live by in2town on 06-14-2008 at 03:34 AM

London has to be my first choice, it has everything you could possibly want from a city, but a bit more sun would help. It has entertainment & culture but the traffic problems need sorting out

The only reason you thought melbourne is boring is because you probs followed all those gay as tourists books that say, ooh pay 100 dollars to go look at this garden and shit like that. Melbourne is a great place and is very fun as night. Plenty of casino and heaps and heaps of clubs and pubs. Did you go to eureka tower? did you go for a boat ride onto the bay? did you go to lunar park? did you go to crown casino? did you go to the royal theater, did you go to the imax? plenty of shit to do.

RE: the best city to live by Dillan. on 06-14-2008 at 08:05 AM

I want to live somewhere in Canada, because I used to live there..maybe Quebec. Quebec's nice.

RE: the best city to live by SikStyles on 06-14-2008 at 03:03 PM

There is no right or wrong answer to this question actually. It's best to live where everything works out for you and all.

(I bet someone already said this but I didn't feel like reading the whole thread. 2 pages. C'mon!)

RE: the best city to live by androo123 on 06-17-2008 at 12:47 PM

-According to http://realestate.msn.com/slideshow.aspx?cp-docum...92217&imageindex=1, the top cities to live in, by quality of air, traffic, and personal safety. See the link above for all the information on the top cities.

1. Zurich, Switzerland
2. Vienna, Austria*
2. Geneva, Switzerland*
4. Vancouver, Canada
5. Auckland, New Zealand
6. Dusseldorf, Germany
7. Munich, Germany*
7. Frankfurt, Germany*
9. Bern, Switzerland
10. Sydney, Australia

*Doubles mean a tie

Basically if you live in Switzerland, or Germany, you live in a good clean place.

RE: the best city to live by CookieRevised on 06-17-2008 at 01:17 PM

What's up with all these industrial and urbanised cities? Great skylines? Best cities to live in? Quality of life? Sure... if you like to look at concrete all the time...

Give me the "country side", some nature. Of course not in the middle of a forest living in a shack or whatever, but a place where you don't live in a concrete fort all the time, no matter how nice and modern the buildings are like all the cities listed so far... I'm happy to travel 30 minutes to go to a 'city' to shop or whatever. I don't need to live next door to a supermarket or Starbucks...

Waking up in the morning by the sound of (real :p) birds and other nature sounds can't be beaten by anything.

I love rainforrests. :) and waterfalls

It's a dream, not something realistic. But I'd have some sort of delivery service or something. Or maybe something like Lost. :P Just have a massive package of food drop outside my house every so often.

Welcome to my life! (And it's awsome. =D)

I live in Goiânia, Capital of Goiás, Brazil.

Why I like it:

- There's green everywhere. There's no street without a bunch of trees.
- It's not noisy. (Unless you live in the Central Sector or near the Emergency Hospital.)
- Countrylife in a big city.
- **Quiety**

Cons

- Yeah, the well-know "second worst radioactive waste accident happened in the city, second only to Chernobyl." was here
RE: the best city to live by hardcandy on 08-05-2008 at 10:35 AM

melbourne or sydney. you spelt sydney wrong.

melbourne is the sporting capital of the world, best shopping, restaurants etc. sydney has the better weather, better beaches and more attractions. but melbourne is a better place to live simply because of the sport and the love for AFL. there is no city in the world that loves a sport as much as melbourne loves AFL. nowhere.

RE: the best city to live by Lfcbevan on 08-09-2008 at 06:19 PM
