vista sleep by Quantum on 03-27-2008 at 01:50 PM

I put windows vista to sleep as normal..... (instead of shutting down). I cam back and the orange light was flashing as it normal would do if i put it to sleep. I switched on my pc and did what i u sally do. It had the battery in and a mains power supply.

It just cut out on me. No warning JUST SUDDENLY switched off. Its not the first time its done this...why the hell would it do this...I WILL decide if i want that not vista :@

WHY IS IT DOING THIS AFTER "SLEEPING". :@
really ...... off at ....... Microsoft
Thanks in advance...

Might be problems with your memory or power supply.

You could run http://www.memtest86.com/ to test memory, but run it overnight, it takes a long time to test and needs to boot in it's own everioment, so you wont be able to use it for at least a few hours.

Thanks.

I've had the laptop 2 months so i doubt it will be a memory failure?

That is dodgy reasoning... It can be defect when you got the laptop...
Vista always has sucked with sleep/hibernate altough sleep should be alot more stable then hibernate...

Find it way quicker to just turn off/on again in Vista. But then I'm not using a laptop.

My laptops boot time is quite fast but ill still use sleep if i get anymore problems all just turn off... you would think windows would at least tell you what the problem was, or do they?

Thanks, everyone(Y)!

RE: vista sleep by Quantum on 03-28-2008 at 12:38 PM

Just happened again. :@ I left my laptop running on battery and it went into stand-by when there was none left. I switched on and a few minutes later it suddenly cuts.

Why....

What make of laptop is it? I have one that's cut out completely once, and that runs Ubuntu Gutsy.

No need to say anymore...

RE: vista sleep by absorbation on 04-02-2008 at 03:13 PM

When mine goes into sleep it doesn't come back out ...

Vista has caused me to lose pieces of work in the past, it is a extremely poor feature and is a testament to Microsoft's lack of user friendly software.
