I am happy Greece made it to the finals. It was amazing that it was in the first file. We didn't wait for too long to learn if we were through.

I'm glad Poland made it through, I really like their song. :]

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Basilis on 05-21-2008 at 07:58 PM

What are the songs that are most likely to qualify from the 2nd semi-final?

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Oxy on 05-21-2008 at 08:58 PM

I don't care tbh. Eurovision has turned into countries voting for neighbouring countries... etc: ukrain, serbia, russia will all vote for eachother..

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by vaccination on 05-21-2008 at 09:45 PM

Yup, Eurovision sux.

Which is one of the reasons why the contest is done differently this year.

With this semi-final not all countries could vote, only those countries who were directly selected in the final can vote in the semi-finals, or something like that.... Didn't quite followed the commentaries and only zapped from time to time to the Eurovision contest....

Dustin the turkey from Ireland didn't make it through?

You're almost there ;)

In each semi-final, only those countries taking part could vote. In addition, the five countries with automatic 'byes' into the final could vote in one of the two semis.
Also, the split of countries in the semis was done to minimise the ever-increasing 'bloc-voting' of recent years.

Finland/Turkey FTW! (Our song's crap as usual).
RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Rik on 05-23-2008 at 08:31 PM

I think *here* are all the finalists now.
I didn't watch it, but good thing Portugal passed :P

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by djdannyp on 05-24-2008 at 12:40 AM

Our song is tripe this year.....at least last year's had a bit of novelty value and some hot women....and yet we came 22nd or something stupid.

It's a farce basically, just gets worse year after year with the political voting and increasingly weird acts

And that's not to mention bloody Terry Wogan

So all in all I think i'll be giving it a miss!

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by aNILEator on 05-24-2008 at 11:37 AM

Actually I think this years entry isn't too bad as far as last few years have gone, I like a bit of funk and jazz, still, it's not going to win by any means, I actually like Belgium's entry for some reason >_<

* aNILEator hums (8)O Julissi hummmm humm hummmm(8)

I 'obtained' the double disc album of ll entrants :P Still don't think You can beat Israels teapacks from 2007 in awesomeness!

Terry Wogan is by far the best part of Eurovision. :P
RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by aNILEator on 05-24-2008 at 12:57 PM

Don't diss the wogger!

Wogan is amazing :P sooo many drinking games to be had just based on him :P

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Vazza on 05-24-2008 at 07:23 PM

Let face it, the UK watch Eurovision only for Terry's commentary :D (or is that just me?)

I'm watching the thing with subs while trying to playing the guitar....not advisable :p

United Kingdom....Nil point!

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by CookieRevised on 05-24-2008 at 07:38 PM

My favorite till now would be Qele Qele from .. erm... dunno anymore...

Our (Belgium) entry wasn't 'strong' enough imho. Nice catchy melody, but that's it, no 'balls'..... (though, if you would hear the original, played with 10 more people from the group, it is a whole lot 'richer', but eurovision only allows a max of 6 on stage so....)

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Vazza on 05-24-2008 at 07:47 PM

Qele Qele....sounds a bit like the Armenian entry..

See that's one good thing, the UK will always get an entry because of the amount of money they contribute to the EBU....I think that's it.......

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Tasha on 05-24-2008 at 07:54 PM

So far I really like the entries from Finland, Poland and Iceland. :]

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Mike on 05-24-2008 at 10:09 PM

Welcome to Eurovision :P, obviously never watched or paid attention to him before :P
RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Vazza on 05-25-2008 at 08:51 AM

I wonder if Terry Wogan will have a job after the comment he made while the Russian singer made his way to the stage, about Western Europe needing to consider their position in the Eurovision after the way the voting went and the need for the realisation that it's no longer a singing contest. Meow!

Look at the state of his nose?
RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by aNILEator on 05-25-2008 at 08:58 AM

He says the same every year.

I'm surprised Turkey did so well though if counting politics as their human rights and censorship is ridiculous, also they keep pestering me on WLM :@

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Vazza on 05-25-2008 at 09:06 AM

Yeah, but this time he doesn't know if he'll be going to the next eurovision based on the voting (I mean, he even got a name check this year before the results...what more does he want?) And of course it's all political. Gone are the days when it based on the song, not the politics

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by nat_barbados on 05-29-2008 at 05:06 AM

i so thought Greece or Ukraine would win

RE: Eurovision song contest 2008 by Oxy on 05-29-2008 at 08:48 AM

Greece probably would've won if it wasn't due to the eastern europeans politics votes.
