Anyone else with orange UK? by Quantum on 05-25-2008 at 08:08 PM

Well i really do like alot of things about orange (mobile network provider not brodband) they do have some good packages for your money. Well one problem i've been having is about 30% of the texts i send takes about 10 hours to go through and at worst +- 4 days. So i used another phone and made sure i was not using the radiomast that i am closest to and sometimes this still happens.

Now it's not all the time but it used to be instant and sometimes it can get worse and worse untill a point in time. So is anyone else experiencing this that is using orange UK?

Thanks for help in advance (Y)

Also added poll just to see the most used ;)

You are obsessed by phones, it worries me, I remember all the old threads about phones and flashing and what not :(

Having problems? Enable text confirmation to tell you when a text has been received, gather the stats then phone your provider, ask what is going on, 10 hours for a text etc, no text is left idle for more than 24hours anyway, otherwise it is canceled and returned.

It may be a dodgy transmitter/receiver your phone is connected to try resetting it etc.

£30 is unlimited :S I think i might call them and if all they can say is "were having a problem and it can't be fixed untill blah blah blah" i really won't be happy.

Yeah that happens to me, and the worst of it is that it only ever happens with this one girl...

Also, have you guys seen Orange Messenger? As far as I can tell you basically get your contact list on your phone and can talk to them. It also says it's free until 30th June.

The downside?

It only accepts @hotmail.xxx and @live.com addresses, so my @gmail.com passport doesn't work. :(

You might have trouble complaining about text delay times to be honest, there's nothing in your contract with Orange that says that text have to arrive promptly.

This allows the networks to conserve resources because they can use Packet switching to send text messages instead of Circuit Switching.

As long as they're getting there eventually, there's not much you can do. (Although in my experience, ringing Orange regularly to nag them can work well for fixing issues)

I know but there is saying as soon as network possible. (asked mate who's dad is a call center operator & can speak english)

Yeah I'm with Orange. Had this problem with Sony Ericsson phones a lot. Never happened to me on Samsung phones (still the same sim card btw).

On another note:
There broadband is terrible.

I topped up £30 pound last month and got "unlimited" texts (which equals 10,000. Didnt top up this month, so wasn't expected to get any, but checked my text allowance anway.. said I had 12,000 texts and so far, they havent gone (Y):P

RE: Anyone else with orange UK? by djdannyp on 05-26-2008 at 04:30 PM

I'm with O2, never had problems with messages taking days, etc

I pay nothing all year for 500mins and 400 texts (or the other way round, i can never remember, i never reach my limit)

well, i pay it out, but i claim it all back

the only downside is that they don't have delivery reports for texts
