MPL Website by DejaVoo on 06-01-2008 at 07:56 AM

Is anyone else having problems connecting to the MPL website, I’ve been trying on and off for the last couple of hours with both IE and FF and both are saying that they cannot find the server???

Is it just me?

I am able to access any other site I have tried, hmmmmmmm…

*-)

This might be the problem: http://forums.theplanet.com/index.php?showtopic=90185

This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.

This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.

Our network operations team is currently working on the ev1servers.net nameservers to ensure that they are online, are routed to correctly, and propogate as quickly as possible.

I read that post on ThePlanet forums a few hours ago but I didn't know msgpluslive.net was hosted by them.

The DNS servers for msgpluslive.net are ns1.ev1servers.net and ns2.ev1servers.net, and those are affected by the outage. :p

RE: MPL Website by roflmao456 on 06-02-2008 at 12:56 AM

also, (!IP) doesn't work.
most probably uses the msgpluslive.net server.

suggestion: try whatismyip.org
workaround: download

update: fixed bug, changed tag to (!IPS)
RE: MPL Website by mynetx on 06-02-2008 at 10:46 AM

@roflmao456:
It is calling http://software.msgpluslive.net/getip.php, which is normally replying with the IP of the caller (<?php echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; ?>). As the DNS servers of msgpluslive.net are still down, that will fail and result in a timeout.

Info: The server of msgpluslive.net is running, but it is not serving the correct website. You can test this by not using the DNS server, but adding this line to your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts:
75.125.133.82 www.msgpluslive.net

Then call the URL in your browser and you will get a website with title "Messenger Plus! has moved" and a meta refresh to patchou.com.

It's back :)

RE: MPL Website by mynetx on 06-03-2008 at 07:06 AM

The IP of the Messenger Plus! website and other services on the server has now changed from 75.125.133.82 to 72.51.11.32.
