Messenger won't open by Amichai on 06-01-2008 at 01:04 PM

Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, but I couldn't find it.

Anyways, here's my problem:

After I install Plus! it says it needs to restart my Windows Live Messenger (WLM), but then when I allow it to, WLM doesn't actually open up again. I've tried restarting the computer, reinstalling WLM and WLM Plus!, but nothing happens. Then, when I uninstall Plus! everything works again. This problem only exists on my desktop, I have Plus! on my laptop and there are no problems. Could something be conflicting?

I used Windows XP on a Gateway computer, not sure what model.

Got any other add-ons for Messenger, such as Smiley Central, SweetIM ? They could cause problems.

Do you have WindowsBlinds? That can cause problems.

Similar problem posted here.

Try these:

2. Open MSN Live Messenger
3. in the Tool -> Preference, close the option "login me in when connected to internet"
4. Save the perference
5. Connect to the internet
6. Login.

Do you have a router? If so, which one (brand and model number)? Try resetting it by unplugging it for one minute, then plugging back in and restart PC, as suggested here and here. Or disable then enable the network adapter.

And I presume you have the latest version of Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live ?

I have windows blinds on both my laptop and my desktop, but as stated the plus program works fine on my laptop, just not the desktop... :(
