CD drive wont 'ask' to boot. by Oxy on 06-08-2008 at 05:20 PM

As the title says, PC will past the first 'splash' screen, and forwards to the booting.. now as it stands, The only device that i have set the pc to boot to is my dvd drive, and It'll state something along the lines off "checking CD boot", and doesn't say "Press any key to boot from cd", but just skips to Grub.

Anyone know why/a solution? Or, can you boot a windows vista dvd from a non-specified dvd drive?

Are you sure your the DVD you have inside your drive is bootable?
Tried booting it into another computer?
Tried removing your HDD(s) to see what happens (it will probably try to network boot)?

I'm sure this has happened for more than the one CD, but according to gooooogle, this problem could be caused by the CD's i have been using, the successful bootup of a Ubuntu CD seems to confirm this.. I guess i should try with another Windows disk, as they seem to be the only few that i have problems with.
