I have some experience with a few media-center distributions / applications.
My MediaPortal has some great plugins: MP-TV, Last.FM, Shoutcast, Traffic, Cell Phone Monitor (automaticly pauses my media when my phone rings, and continues afterwards). RE: Windows Media Center has nothing on this by aNILEator on 07-06-2008 at 01:14 PM yeah i remember mediaportal being announced and the first few builds, i think i downloaded it but never installed when i was still on XP, seemed cool, but i just desperately want a TV card RE: Windows Media Center has nothing on this by Sypher on 07-06-2008 at 01:16 PM TV cards aren't that special. A random TV produces nicer pictures then a TV card. RE: Windows Media Center has nothing on this by aNILEator on 07-06-2008 at 01:56 PM well yeah obviously, but i just wanted to watch stuff on my computer and record to digital formats RE: Windows Media Center has nothing on this by Thor on 07-06-2008 at 02:09 PM
Personally I agree that the UI could've been a lot better in terms of buttons. However, the concept of keeping media in the centre is a good idea, since media centres are supposed to focus around media. quote:Are you sure you had proper drivers and compatible hardware? ALSA in itself works really good if you just have the setup, especially with pulseaudio. (Too bad LMCE is mainly for Gutsy.) RE: Windows Media Center has nothing on this by Voldemort on 07-06-2008 at 04:59 PM I have XBMC on my xbox, and I must say it is really win. |
