Weird Problem by 69696969 on 07-29-2008 at 10:18 AM

hi there,

im currently experiencing a weird msn problem and i'am clueless on how to fix it. The problem is that when i try to sign into my account through MSN Messenger 7.5, i get an error message, and theres no code to go along with it.  It says

" Signing in to MSN Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable ".

I've attatched a screenshot of the message.

I can still sign into my hotmail, just not msn.
On the same computer and using the same version of MSN other people can still sign into their accounts. This led me to thinking that its not my MSN its something to do with my account eg. hacked or something like that.

Four days later i went to a friends house and tried to sign in through his Windows Live Messenger, and it worked.....i dont understand it.

Ive done many "connection" tests and everything seemed to be fine, it just wont seem to work.

Is there any way to resolve this problem?

I think that upgrading to windows live messenger would fix it, but i use msn plus, and rename all of my 300+ contacts. Once i upgrade i would have to rename them all again, something which im not prepared to do.

Anyone got any ideas?
Help is much appreciated

Thanx in advanced

Try to open a Run window by clicking Start, then Run. Type the following command and press enter.

regsvr32 softpub.dll

Maybe, it's a WLM server problem. So, you have to change your password permanently.

Don't see why the WLM servers would do that, unless it's a bug in the code :S

Report this issue to Microsoft asap:
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlmessenger > Can't login > I've got an error > Errornumber is not in the list

Give as much details as possible, including the old password which causes the error. Don't forget to literally state the exact error you got when you used the old password. Also say what you did to fix it.
