WMP Buffer Overflow? by Th3rmal on 07-31-2008 at 01:03 PM

After a while of leaving WMP idle (like not playing a song), it just stops working, and it disables my taskbar and makes it unclickable. Today when this happened, i got a virus alert that it had created a buffer overflow or something.
It also sometimes crashes when changing songs.

Does anyone know whats happening? =/

Do you have any now playing scripts installed?

Same thing happens to me with winamp and I think it's something to do with WLM/Now Playing script as it freezes up messenger when it happens(everything else is fine for me)

It's a pretty random thing however so I haven't really been able to test it.

I can't seem to find anything exactly precise.. Yet I found this thread which seems to have the same issue (assuming you have McAffee also).

What I could suggestion is a clean install.. I don't know if it'll help much; but it's the only idea I got..

I actually do have McAfee, and so that is basically exactly my problem.

Atm, i am trying to make WMP a buffer overflow exception, but i am unsure of the API name for it...

"Windows Media Player"?

Also who uses McAfee, besides my dad everyone should use something better like NOD32 or AVG Free or whatever :p
