I have recently had the Samsung Omnia, which has got Windows Live Messenger on, I setup my hotmail account on there by mistake, and that added all of my Messenger contacts to my address book which I didnt want.
So I deleted them all, but I am guessing that was linked with the online version... Now I have got about 5 contacts, I did have about 200. And some of those people are my best friends and I have got no other way of contacting them... So in other words I have lost A LOT of people... 
Does anyone have any idea if Microsoft backup their databases for every use?

Most likely yes, but no way that they would likely be able to help you out.
Unless you have a backup of your contacts somewhere, you'll have to add them all back manually

I don't have a backup. And I cannot remember them all... They must be able to just restore it back for me if I can prove to them that it is my account...

another alternative is to use the contact list cleanup tool within messenger plus. It will show you a list of all the people who have added you, and you can add them to your contact list from there
