Okie, I have a huge OCD for things like this, and recently I've been getting this problem. It has something to do with the ALT button I think but I can never get it to fix. I've even restarted a couple of times, sometimes it just disappears but I'm not sure how! There's this sort of top-window thingy that takes over the actual windows live messenger window, it makes it look like a vista window instead of the nice rounded design and it really makes me mad. Anyone know how to fix it? Here's a picture of the problem....

Press this arrow, and select "show the menu bar"

still can't figure it out lol. i tried looking at the tools>toolbars and when i checked/unchecked those and i also couldn't find the "show the menu bar" on that arrow. sigh, i feel like a complete moron lol.

Click the options button(circled red in MeEtc's screenshot) and it'll produce a drop down, the very bottom option should be "Show the menu bar". Chec/Uncheck this and it should solve your problem.

Note: Pressing the Alt button brings this menu bar back up for quick access to some of the controls, but it will disappear after you let Alt go, however sometimes it gets stuck on some applications.

It's a checked/unchecked value.

i've been looking around and i'm not the only one with this problem, just haven't been able to find a solution that works.

Start -> (Run) -> regedit -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings\<msnid>

Key: IMFrameHidden
Value: 00 00 00 00 = The menu is showed

Did you change the reg value? In the screenshot you've got the reg value set to 00 00 00 00(menu bar shown), so you need to change it to 01 00 00 00(menu bar hidden). Or are you saying Messenger changed the value back itself?

uhh...the code was at 01 00 00 00 when i checked at first so i changed it to that one, that's what i thought he meant. anyway i just tried the opposite and no help (again, I did reboot WLM.)
