Vista Stop:C000021a Fatal System Error by Matimus on 10-03-2008 at 02:36 PM
Hey guys i need help BADLY!!!! every time i turn my dell inspirion laptop on it always says Stop:C000021a Fatal System Error system has shut down....
I honestly did some research and its a little hard to follow all of the other peoples directions due to the fact that i cant even get past the loading screen... so i turn on my laptop and its a black screen till it shows the windows vista loading thing then it just shows my mouse on a black screen and every time i put in the cds the other topics recommended it has the error... it started to run slower proior to the crash, I even ran macfree on it but it said nothing was wrong and so i woke up the next morning with the error... its just gotten really annoying trying to fix it on my own for 2 days straight... the help would be greatly appreciated.

After some quick Googling, I found this;

http://myitkb.net/windows-stop-error-codes/

Your error code is listed as the last one on this list, and it has alot of information to help fix it.

I don't use Vista myself, so I can't be of any more help.

Hope this resolves your problem!

The link provided earlier does not work.

I did figure out what was causing the error message in my laptop.
Apparently it is the display driver.
I went into 'safe mode', then 'control panel', then 'device manager', went to my 'display adapters' and uninstall the driver.

The error message went away when i restarted the computer, but now my display is stuck on 800x600 pixels, but  I want to be able to see my computer in 1280x768.

What do I do? Everytime I install the latest driver, the error message comes up again.

My display driver is ATI Radeon HD 4570.

(Windows Vista 32-bit)
