So I always use my WLM contacts list in Full screen. RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by Mike on 10-04-2008 at 02:40 PM Your picture's resolution needs to be 640x320 and 96dpi RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by vree on 10-04-2008 at 04:08 PM
Tried it. Doesn't work. RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by Mike on 10-04-2008 at 04:30 PM Can you post the original image? RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by vree on 10-04-2008 at 04:42 PM
Let's try this one for instance RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by Mike on 10-04-2008 at 06:44 PM
This is probably the best I can do: RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by vree on 10-04-2008 at 07:30 PM
I know it looks much better in a smaller window, but I just hate small windows XD. RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by lykos1865 on 01-17-2009 at 06:40 AM Well, I'm bringing this thread back. As I've seen, WLM treats the scene pictures regarding to the window size. So, if your contacts have other resolutions, or they just don't run the conversations on maximized windows, they will see the image differently than you do. There is nothing we can really do about that. So I'm wondering if Patchou could make the pictures blurry, so they don't get so pixelated... RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by unknownskywalker on 01-28-2009 at 07:29 PM
It seems that WLM automatically shrinks any image to a resolution with 80 pixels height, most likely 400x80, which should be like the default size for 'windowed' mode.
Any image used as scene, regardless of it's original size is larger or smaller than the 'default windowed size' scene, is cropped by the center and then resized or simply enlarged if smaller. As you can see, even the scenes that comes by default with WLM also look pixelated if the window's size is changed or maximized. I recommend using images with little detail if you don't want them to look too pixelated. Take the default blue one for instance, one can't notice the pixelation if WLM is maximized or windowed due to it's lack of detail. Or you can try what MIKE did, so far it's the best that it can look. RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by blessedguy on 01-28-2009 at 09:24 PM

The second one IS pixelated.. unless the original image is blurry . RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by blessedguy on 01-28-2009 at 10:58 PM
quote:The only not blurry image there is the second, the one that got pixelated... RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by unknownskywalker on 01-28-2009 at 11:13 PM Obviously the second one got pixelated but only in the windows logo part, because of the curvy shape. I agree with blessedguy, it's better to use images with straight patterns, like vertical or horizontal lines. Diagonal ones might still get a bit pixelated, though less noticeable. I found the solution ... RE: Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 => Scene by ziet on 03-18-2009 at 05:32 PM
Just found out that it only helps marginally when small... it still pixelates when enlarge to full size. |
