When I draw a circle in photoshop ( ratio 1:1, relatively large circle), and then contract the circle selection, instead of having a nice circle like i had before, i get a circle with 'pointy' bits, and the larger the circle, the more noticeable this is, and it looks very ugly 
Does anyone know how to fix this?

In the second image, if you compare the lowest layer to the border, you can see the difference.

Wouldn't a normal transform work better anyway?

i have never noticed that before, it could be a feather setting somewhere could it?
