[Fixed] Windows media player crashes when I try to play any audio file.... by duck! on 10-15-2008 at 07:02 PM

I can't seem to play any audio file in Wmp. I have the K-lite Codec pack installed but I've also tried the Vista Codec pack. I've searched Google and I've tried most of the solutions but none of them have fixed it..=/
I've also noticed Windows Media center doesn't play any audio files either.
I'm using Windows Vista SP1

Any Help would be appreciated.
thankies

Update:
Its all fixed now :)
To fix it I used System File Check (sfc /scannow)

I'm guessing other windows sounds play? It could be a codec, but it's unlikely... Have you tried updating WMP (or re-installing if you can)

Yuh, other windows sounds play and I can't re-install WMP because Vista doesn't allow it.

I've had the same thing happen off and on, it comes in spurts, Windows will update and fix it, then break it again later.
