[Release] Fake media 1.60 by SmokingCookie on 10-30-2008 at 05:50 PM

Customise every aspect your (fake) media message (what I'm listening to), using

Fake media
Version 1.61

Features :o
Set a fake media message and control every aspect of it. If any of your contacts has a script that shows song info, they'll see the artist, title and album, instead of a title that contains all that information. For example, they won't see:

quote:
Title: Proud Mary - John Fogerty
Artist: unknown
Album: unknown

Instead, they'll see

quote:
Title: Proud Mary
Aritst: John Fogerty
Album: The long road home - In concert

This is done by using a set of numbers, each representing its own value:

  • 1 = Title
  • 2 = Artist
  • 3 = Album
  • 4 = ContentID

These numbers must be surrounded in {curly brackets}. An example would be "{0}" by "{1}" ("{2}"), resulting in:

"Proud Mary" by "John Fogerty" ("The long road home - In concert")

You may also set a specific media icon. You can choose from Music, Games and Office.

You can access the interface window using either "/FakeMedia" or the script menu. You might as well want to set a media message directly. You can use "/FakeMdia [Title] [Artist] [Album] [Format] [ContentID] [Type]".
The first three parameters are clear (I hope). The Type parameter can be one of the following values:

  • Music
  • Games
  • Office
  • None

Each one represents its media icon. This parameter is not case-sensitive.

From version 1.60 and up, you may use the script's API to alter the media message, without having to write a script yourself. In the script's root directory, you will find an HTML file with information and an example with informative comments.

Why is not on the official database?

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.40 by SmokingCookie on 10-30-2008 at 05:57 PM

It is.

I've linked to one of my pages. Scroll down to the Download link. From there, you'll be redirected to the DB.

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.40 by Menthix on 10-30-2008 at 10:46 PM

He's referring to [Virus] Important security notice to (former) "Nick plus" users.

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.40 by SmokingCookie on 10-31-2008 at 04:00 PM

Google pages doesn't allow scripts to be run (or it does but I don't know of it) so it should be safe.

What's the difference between this script and xPSM?

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.40 by SmokingCookie on 11-03-2008 at 08:03 PM

A lot

Including that this script has been made on request by me, and I've never heard of "xPSM".

Open both PLSC file in WinZIP or an equal utility, and you'll find a couple of things in xPSM, which are not in my script:

  • A DLL, named "functiones",
  • notify.mp3, I don't use sound files,
  • Conf.ini, I don't use settings in this script (yet, and they'll be stored in the registry)

If you see the way both scripts are programmed, mine is very different.

And there are tonnes of "countdown-in-PSM" scripts as well.

Update: version 1.60 has been released. See first post for more information

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.60 by Chris4 on 06-08-2010 at 04:56 AM

Bugs:

#1. When going to Scripts > Fake Media, it says I have 1 notification, but neither options do anything.

#2. Although rather confusing, once I figured how to set a fake media message I found that only Music is seen by contacts, Games and Office are not.

Any chance of updating?

xPSM (similar script) has bug #2 too. I've contacted the creator of it to see if he'll update, if not an update for this would be good.

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.60 by SmokingCookie on 06-08-2010 at 07:18 AM

Well, as I am very busy at school, work etc. and most of my development time goes to Video Converter Plus!, I have very little time for other scripts. That doesn't mean that I don't put any effort in this one.

As for bug #1, I'm currently altering the way the notification system works, so i's only a matter of time before things work like they used to.

For bug #2... I don't know if this is the script, or Messenger itself.

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.60 by Chris4 on 06-08-2010 at 04:54 PM

Ok, well the creator of xPSM has said he will update it too, so s'all good.

RE: [Release] Fake media 1.60 by SmokingCookie on 06-08-2010 at 04:59 PM

As soon as I have the time (if I remember it), I'll post a topic about bug #2.
