Have you taken a language for GCSE or A level or have you already taken one?

I have taken french for GCSE, and i know a little bit of German. When i went on holiday to a German speaking country, although i was not fluent, what i had picked up in lessons really helped me!

REMEMBER YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE FLUENT FOR A LANGUAGE TO BENEFIT YOU!

Anyway what languages can you speak or have taken for a GCSE or A-level???

Even if I hardly have a clue what GSCE or A-levels are (I know that they represent in Finnish education, no need to lecture), I'd still like to answer. Hey, it's a decent chit-chat thread for once!

I speak fluent Swedish, Finnish and English, studied German for 3 years, but I wouldn't even tell anyone I know it. I've also taken Russian for A-level, and I still study it (4th year at the moment).

Currently learning Spanish and French for GCSE and contemplating whether or not I want to continue one of them for A-level as i have to choose my A-levels by december.

just the one for me

French at GCSE, AS and A Level.

I'm still pretty good at it today, I have a few french speaking friends so I kinda keep it up that way, plus my brother and sister both study/studied it too so I helped them out

Estonian - as mother tongue (Estonian children do learn it at school too, that's why unlike English people we can spell in our own language quite well! :p).
English - on high level (studied English philology in uni and am now studying translation, and English is the language I translate from).
Russian - on basic level (studied it all through primary and secondary school and by now I've forgotten most of what I've learnt).
Spanish - on very basic level (1 year of studying).

I took German at GCSE, was boring but better than French. Option blocks for my GCSEs were shit, infact education in this country generally seems pretty borked in structure.

fluent english and spanish, and bits of other random languages.

GCSEs are the national exams in England that you take when you're 16.

AS Levels are taken at 17 and A Levels at 18

At school I've got:

Dutch (grammar, texts etc.)
English (vocab, grammar)
French (vocab, grammar)
German (vocab, grammar)
Latin (grammar, vocab, translate texts)
ancient Greek (grammar, vocab, translate texts)

At the end of this year (year 2008-2009) I'll kick Greek from the list.. Not so good at it :$ :P

Using the Greek alphabet, I can read some Russian.

À l'école secondaire, j'ai étudié un peu de français, but tbh I wrote that using Google translate. :)

At least for like a year. It got boring.

I like being British. It gives me the ability to be all arrogant and be like "everyone speaks English anyway". :P
