Personal Message And Currently Listening To? by silent-viper on 12-21-2008 at 11:34 PM

I was wondering if it will ever be possible to have both your personal message displaying and the song that you are currently listening to?

Thanks :)

I don't think so, not easily at least. As far as I can see you can only have one or the other, for some reason WLM makes the PSM blank when you're listening to music. There may be a way to get both via a script by saving the PSM and media message to a text file or something, but there are a number of problems with that... Some of the code detecting the PSM may conflict with an actual empty PSM and when WLM is "faking" it; there'd be nowhere to put it, although it could be implemented into YASS or something I guess, with the downside to it being you can't actually see it yourself without opening the image.

In the almost-new version of WLM it is possible to have both, but contacts using the stable 8.5 will still see normal behaviour (for them).

possible with http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/58-Now-Playing/

but you have to put your personal message into it, rather then straight into messenger

on the main option page, first text box add it to the front. "blah blah - n/p ...."

Do you mean you can do it in the newest version of Windows Live Messenger 2009? If so how?

I take it that doesnt work on the latest version of Windows Live Messenger 2009 as Plus doesnt work very well with it?

WLM 2009 natively supports this feature, and it also supports multi-lined (double-lined?) PSMs.

Display Name (Status)
Personal Message
Now Playing

To your contacts it will just show the Now Playing message instead of the PSM.

Ahhh so any of my contacts that are using the new WLM will see it as:

Display Name (Status)
Personal Message
Now Playing

but any of my contacts using an older version of messenger will see it as:

Display Name (Status)
Personal Message or Now Playing

Am I right?
