I had a quick google, and the first site brought me back to here:
http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=87879

And the second link, was of course, yours.

I think possibly deleting the folders for your contacts seems like a good idea, and if that doesnt work; uninstalling your firewall?

Like, just to see if that works, and then put it back on?

Other option, of course, is to just not use the beta.
Im running it just now, and i can logon fine, but when i put Plus! on, my chats don't flash.

I think just using the first beta might be a good idea, or going back completely to the old one.

[edit]
I take that last bit back. It appears the betas been released as RC1, so theres no going back..

The only thing i can think of is talking to Microsoft. Or completely formatting, and installing JUST messenger, and see where that takes you..

Adam.

We're not Microsoft, and we haven't done anything wrong. Watch your language. And no, I'm not going to try and help you. Not with that attitude.

As .Lou said we are not Microsoft. If you have done all of what you posted then post over at their Space. Or better yet how about you post at their newsgroup. There wouldn't be anything further we could tell you aside from what you have already done and verifying your time and date is correct.

Again we are not affiliated in any way with Microsoft. You post on a public forum complaining. If you don't like the answer provided then simply

And also impossible unless you are installing an application. And at that point it is your own damn fault for installing something without researching it.

Well, actually, you did. When you posted for help.

Coming across as polite in forums is the way to get a good reputation, and its easier to get help. I've just joined this forum, but its not my first.

I know how to go about, and swearing aint the best way, nor is blaming Plus! as the culprits in this situation.

Deleting your contacts folder should not give you an error, WLM will automatically rebuild your contacts folder, and should not throw an error; atleast it never did on any of my systems. It just takes a little longer to logon.

You said that you reinstalled the operating system; was that a complete format, and then just install messenger.

Lets take out the basics first:
Format the computer, and install just the operating system. Nothing else, no anti-virus, nothing.

Download and install windows live messenger; and just WLM, no Plus!, or any other extras.

See if you can login, and if you can, report back.
Else, try another account. Maybe your account has a problem. Try another computer.

Adam.
