[Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-12-2009 at 04:20 PM

New Plus!, New Skins =)
Finally, it's ready =)
Wait for future improovements!

"Let your Messenger be YOUR Messenger. Remove those ugly dots before each message if you want. Maybe you prefer having Display Pictures in the right-hand side. Or, who knows, for some reason you prefer having your dashboard in the bottom of the contact list. Add status shortcuts to conversation windows and to the contact list, remove the logon window scene, or even the contact list's scene. What if you could even choose contact list's and logon window's backgrounds? Now you can."
[Image: MyLiveMessenger0.5.png]

>Remove SignIn Links
>Remove Scene at the Logon Window

>Move Display Picture back to the right, in Convo Windows
>Logon Background (Choose between 70 options, including default)

I like the sign in window. It is simple but impressive.

RE: [Coming Soon]My Live Messenger by TheSourcE on 01-12-2009 at 06:09 PM

The sign in windows looks good indeed, how do you skinned the background?

RE: [Coming Soon]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-12-2009 at 06:12 PM

The background was easy: replace ID 4300. But the Scene needed a workaround, in definition 947

code:
<*PlusSkin Conditions(RemoveSceneLogon = false) *><Element Id=atom(idSceneBackground) LayoutPos=top Layout=FillLayout()>
<WallpaperView Id=atom(idScene) Thumbnail=false Active=0 Enabled=false Height=rcint("msgr",654) AddBehavior=DUI::ShowHide()/>
</Element>
<Element LayoutPos=top id=atom(idSceneEdge) Background=rcbkd("msgr",4301) Height=rcint("msgr",4111) AddBehavior=DUI::ShowHide()/></*PlusSkin*>
<*PlusSkin Conditions(RemoveSceneLogon = true) *><Element Id=atom(idSceneBackground) LayoutPos=none Layout=FillLayout()>
<WallpaperView Id=atom(idScene) Thumbnail=false Active=0 Enabled=false Height=rcint("msgr",654) AddBehavior=DUI::ShowHide()/>
</Element>
<Element LayoutPos=none id=atom(idSceneEdge) Background=rcbkd("msgr",4301) Height=rcint("msgr",4111) AddBehavior=DUI::ShowHide()/></*PlusSkin*>
(note that scene can be removed with a BoolVal and backgrounds can be changed with Multivals)
And that white field in the midle, isn't messenger's default, but ID 4302
RE: [Coming Soon]My Live Messenger by Robin2130 on 01-12-2009 at 06:21 PM

Looks very good :) I will download your skin when it's released :)

RE: [Coming Soon]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-12-2009 at 09:00 PM

I think it's that for now =X
Later on I add some functionality, when I discover how to do it again...
Just making the .reg surprise for those who don't like the clickable thing that you should click to support messenger (we can't officially remove... "it") and the Options Panel =)
Maybe I'll release it tomorrow =P

RE: [Coming Soon]My Live Messenger by Robin2130 on 01-13-2009 at 03:59 PM

I'm impressed of your work blessedguy. If you are releasing the skin, you will be the first one who have created a compatible skin for the newest WLM :D :P

RE: [Coming Soon]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-13-2009 at 04:14 PM

In fact, mynetx has already released his skin for WLM 14.0 =)
(Plus! Patch)

Download

[Image: attachment.php?pid=946186]

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-13-2009 at 06:46 PM

There's an option in the options panel, called "remove scene" under the "Logon Window" category =P, just activate it

and what resolution are you using?
I cut that help button the most I could, and in yours you can see the blan thingys =X

I'm working on it.
I've only managed to remove the logon window scene (that's why it's under the "Logon Window" text...).
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Squillace on 01-13-2009 at 08:17 PM

Thank you a lot, BlessedGuy. With your skin my WLM9 looks EXACTLY how I want. I just changed some minor things related to the images you replaced and it's perfect now. ;)
In fact, all what I wanted was removing those ugly dots and move display pictures to right again. You've done it!

Thanks!

You're welcome =)

Will just add the change alerts look option, then send to the database.
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Squillace on 01-13-2009 at 08:25 PM

I just have a little question, don't know if it is related to your skin or something else:

How to get the "new buddy icons" back instead of those we can see in this screenshot?

[Image: d566561b2c5ca291eaa63be4e5f84.png]

Thanks

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by robert_dll on 01-13-2009 at 08:40 PM

You need to replace new icons with the old ones, it can be done extracting the icons from 8.5 resources.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Squillace on 01-13-2009 at 09:39 PM

No... that's exactly the opposite thing I want to do. The icons I have are the ones we can see in the screenshot I posted. Not the new ones. And I want the new ones back.

I'm completely new with all this stuff.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-13-2009 at 09:45 PM

Same thing =P
Just switch the order: extract from 14.0, and include in 8.5 =)

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Squillace on 01-13-2009 at 09:52 PM

But that's not the point...

- Are they like this because of you skin ?
- Are they like this because of Plus! ?

Why am I having those icons? It happens with you guys too?

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-13-2009 at 09:56 PM

Nope... and my skin doesn't replace any icons *-*

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by djdannyp on 01-13-2009 at 10:20 PM

The icons are like that because of Plus!

Patchou already knows about it and it'll be sorted for the final release of the program.

The current release was just updated for compatibility, no new features or changes were added (except the UIB decoding), that will all be done later :)

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Squillace on 01-13-2009 at 10:37 PM

Ok, so I will wait for a while. I can wait. :)

Thanks

You have them cause you use tabbed chats ;p
am I the only who hates tabbed chatting?

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Guena on 01-14-2009 at 12:20 AM

I was also working on status shortcut option when you released it, so I'm not the first to release it. :'(

Anyway my option is a bit different from yours and allow to show shortcut on the right or on the left of the Scene as you can see on the following screenshot

[Image: statusleft.png]

[Image: statusright.png]

Heh if you are talking about the first to use that in a skin then you would have to track back all the way to the vbox mod that was made by the old skinners back in MSN Messenger :P It's hard to bring out an idea that hasn't been done nowadays (but I'm sure as hell trying now ;))

Anyway so far good start to the 9 skins. This should tie people over until what I have is finished :P

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Robin2130 on 01-16-2009 at 10:32 AM

The toasts has been changed, and the options are changed :) for so far i can see :P

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-16-2009 at 02:15 PM

I'm not keeping a changelog yet =P
But overall,
-New default CL background
-New default alert
-Option to move dashboard to the bottom
-Option to remove scene from Contact List
-Option "Remove Search Background" doesn't make anny effect when "Move dashboard to the bottom" is activated.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 04:03 PM

Could you provide a screenshot?
those aren't two scenes, its the skin's default background as seen when you activate the options "remove scene" (that due tosome limitations, only work when the default scene is applied..)
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Hisham09 on 01-16-2009 at 04:10 PM

gd work!

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 04:14 PM

Hereīs the screenshot.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-16-2009 at 04:19 PM

Weird, it doesn't happen here, even with the same settings.
What scripts are you running?

OOOOH! You have Discovery...
It's incompatible with the latest messenger, almost sure that's the problem.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 04:28 PM

I donīt have any script running :S

Ok xD Im going to unistall Discovery :)

Thanks for your help. (Y)

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-16-2009 at 04:31 PM

Try removing Messenger Discovery Live, then reboot.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 04:39 PM

I unistalled Messenger Discovery live but i still having the problem :S

Itīs weird cuase in the version o.1 I didnīt have this problem :s

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-16-2009 at 04:53 PM

It only happens when that specific background is activated? try with other options please. (tested on my XP pc, all right, same on my vista pc...)

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 04:58 PM

It happens with all the other backgrounds :S

Still having the problem :s

Ps: I canīt put the Windows Live Default background it just looks white.
I have this configuration in My live Messenger.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-16-2009 at 05:46 PM

Problem found, fixed, and I'm uploading a fixed version of it.
The problem was: for some reason, not replacing picture 1786 with a transparent picture resulted in that grey box. Moved

quote:
<Picture Id="1786"><File>Graphics/Pictures/1786.png</File></Picture>
from "Remove Dots" to "Always Applied"

Fixed version
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 06:03 PM

Great problem fixed :D

Now iīm trying to put the Windows live Default backgorund but it looks white :S

It's not white ;p
It's a very light blue, it's the original background from both Contact list and Logon Window. (The "Default Contact List background" is not that default =P ).
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Bny47 on 01-16-2009 at 06:51 PM

Ok xD

Now, in this version we can erase the little box of publicity?

Iīm asking becuase in the screenshots you donīt have it xD

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-16-2009 at 07:10 PM

Go to the folder location stated above and look for "Advertisment Control" folder there will be a file in there called Hide Ads

Double click it and click "yes" or "okay" or whatever.....then reload messenger and the adverts will be gone
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Zayami on 01-18-2009 at 08:01 PM

I don't see any "Ad Control" folder.

I'm looking in C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Skins\My Live Messenger.

I don't see anything.

Version 0.1

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 01-18-2009 at 08:12 PM

I strongly suggest downloading 0.3
But if you don't want to download it, you can just use this file

Edit: Submitted the skin to the database.

and what do you mean by "When i make a next line, then makes he spatie's." ?

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by MrCobra on 01-23-2009 at 05:22 AM

How about options to remove the display pic from the signin screen & from the top of the contact list and removal of the bar where the search box is.

Ok =)
The Logon Display pic removal is possible (I think) and will be added soon.
But... from top of the contact list, maybe it's a bit... impossible. Don't know, but looks like it's unremoveable. I'll try again. (The last time i tried, the whole top was gone. At least discovered how to move that part to the bottom...).
The contact search box's options are really gonna be added. I love moving it arround. But the main problem is, where do I put the buttons if the bar is removed? =) If I find a way to move them to another place, I'll add the option to remove it.

Fixed:
Activate Quick Status/Logout (under contact list section) would activate both Contact List's and Conversation Window's.

Grawr, it's awesome, finally a skin that does something ^^ Although, the position of the quick status buttons could be changed, they shorten your name and personal message view, and when you have msn rather skinny, it sort of kills it =/ Love the backgrounds, still can't decide what one to use xD One thing I may recommend, not sure if it's possible with WLM 2009, but could you put like a shine under the names or something? Cause they're pretty impossible to read with all the dark vista backgrounds.

About the position of quick status at the contact list, I'll change the option so that you can choose between:
Next to Plus! Button, Next to DP (left), next to Right border and none. So don't worry. =)
And I know they stay kinda impossible to read with some backgrounds, I still haven't figured out how to do it. Think its possible though.
Thanks for the feedback!

Is not there more possibilities to change color to the windows of conversation?

I don't also intern the frame to have every contact a different color

:(

I really like the place I put it... (secret)
Although it always is active, it will only send messages/handwrites if something's been typed/drwaed =P
And by the way, still working on something to a more readable text...

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by SuperSonic on 01-27-2009 at 09:35 PM

Could you disable the name underlay thing for plus! names? Or am I asking for world peace there? :P I'm being too critical xD You're doing good, just keep going with it :P

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by MrCobra on 01-28-2009 at 01:19 AM

Would it be too much to ask to impliment the quick status buttons like this?

/Sorry the pic isn't inline with the post; it wouldn't accept it for some reason.

No problem, I'll see if I can add it there... I'm only having problems to change the position of it in the Contact List, it's not really "accepting" it well =P (with oprions, they don't work, but without options...)

Update: quick status now also refer to quick logout, and they can be moved to left (near DP), right (near mail and scene buttons), toolbar (near plus! and options button) and none.
Also, now they have tooltips.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by SoleilFleur on 02-01-2009 at 03:19 AM

You did a fantastic job on this. One suggestion though... do you think it is possible to create a way to customize the color of the font for the contacts list? My mother really loves the pink design but finds it hard to read the font on her contacts list and would like to change the font color..

Thank you,

Soleilfleur

Congrats on another release. :)

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by SuperSonic on 02-14-2009 at 09:38 PM

I was worried that the blurs weren't working, then I read your post properly.. xD Something I'd love to see in the next version is like a way to complete remove a background, so when a contact has a scene, it also changes the convo window colour, it doesn't do that with the Default background =/ Great work, I look forward to the next release :D

Next release will feature new simpler and easier to use options panel, with less text and more graphics.
And, of course, the add blurs behind texts. Maybe i'll also separe the "Other windows" from "Contact List".
=)
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by stuartbennett on 02-20-2009 at 05:43 PM

hi blessedguy, i was wondering how you have managed to put backgrounds into your skin.

in 943 you refer to image 4300, in 923 you use image 626 as the top of your background and 625 as the bottom, in 920 its image 1571 however thats only for the area where you type, under the DP's and to just under the formating toolbar that that image covers, the bit above that typing area is another image which i cannot find.

ive looked through other 9.0 skins like yours which reference backgrounds but have no clue as to how there being accomplished, can you help me?

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Imperial on 02-21-2009 at 12:35 AM

I thank you for making this skin, it's everything anyone could ever want.

Many things on this skin can be customized, but i don't know much about this deal of skining, so some things require a bit more work before it looks good.

I changed some images, including the background and some other new things that your latest update offers, however, black over a black and blue skin is a bit hard to read.
Is there a possibility or is there a way to change something in a file in the skin to make the text grey or white.

You mean, you changed it manually? (Went into skin's folder, and changed images.) That's OK as long as you don't redistribute it, ok? =)

About the text... I'm working on "blur behinds text" for now, so soon you won't have this problem at all, just wait =)
For now, just look for the image "blur.png" in "Messenger Plus! Live\Skins\My Live Messenger\Graphics\Blur" and edit it. If I haven't desactivated the option before release, you will see some changes.
If you just want to change the text colours... well... then it will be a lot harder, you'll need to change every single text rcclr in everysingle style file...
isn't it easier to just wait for the next version? =P
Won't take too long, as Carnival has just started, and ends only next week... (yay! extended weekend! =P)
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by stuartbennett on 02-21-2009 at 09:12 AM

blessedguy, i solved this same issue in 365 skin, we had 2 copies of every style file, you would know by what theme was selected whether or not the background was dark or light so each theme refered to either a light or dark version of the appropriate style files, that way dark themes automatically use light coloured text and light themes use dark colured text.

another technique we used to solve this was alpha colours, in 8.5 the backgrounds often sat on top of a single colour layout, you could set that colour to whatever you wanted we used either black or white depending on the background and used alpha transparency so you could see the background through the alpha'ed colour layer, you still need both light and dark versions of the style files in order to pull this off but it does work.

if this colour layer doesnt exist anymore create a single colour image of 700x700 pixels and make it partially transparent, you can refer to it in the light and dark style files and it would be classed as a new image so would be in range of 59xxx, i hope this helps.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 02-21-2009 at 12:37 PM

Thanks stuart, but I already solved this long time ago (before  v0.4), just didn't implement it.
If you take a look in my style files, there is a new background with almost every font element. That background is an image, that the user will decide to be "White blur", "Translucid white blur" or "None", so that font colours will always be the same. And as most part of the contact list didn't change it's colours when colorizing, choosing yo show blurs will bring back the same reading experience as before...

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by stuartbennett on 02-21-2009 at 12:51 PM

oh i see, how did you do the full backgrounds?

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Imperial on 02-21-2009 at 01:17 PM

blessedguy, you can relax as i won't redistribute.

I don't mind waiting for a new version, this last one included this litle aspect and works with the new MSN version, since i had an oportunity to modify it then i did, but the results are not perfect.

but yeah, i can wait for a new version, it's not like i use that menu alot :P

thanks.

It is working, but is really bugged with Windows XP (titlebar goes pretty ugly...), that's why I didin't release it yet. =)
Just wait and soon you'll have a fully working blur behind each text.

(Oh... and might take a bit more time... my HD just broke. I've lost almost everything, and going to have to buy another one... and as stores will only open again next week... yeah, don't exepect anything for about 10 days =P)

It's almost ready... Maybe today it will be delivered to me =)
Installed both Vista and XP, also bought a new HDD, as the old one is broken (the needle touched the disk while in High Speed... so yeah, the damage was quite big...).
Next version will have:
-Updated options Panel
-Spanish Language added. (thanks robert_dll =) )
-Updates related to fonts formatting
-New graphics
RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by SuperSonic on 03-05-2009 at 08:46 PM

Vista and XP will probly be good for testing =o Can't wait for an update, I almost went with LTD the other day, but no quick status icons killed me xD Good luck with the new computer :D

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 03-19-2009 at 04:47 PM

ASAP =P
I'm preparing a new website for previews, people are frequently asking for it.
Also, haven't yet done everything I want to, as I really have no free time =/
Mirascously, I've got enough time this weekend, and if there's no college surprise, I'll update it, release the new website, and start coding more advanced things in "The Favourite" (a dark themed skin with white details and vice-versa, don't know yet if will release in two versions or blend them into one)

Update: Ok, maybe not so soon =P
Update2: Finishing everything =). Will release Aurora live and My Live updates, and both "The Favourite" projects in a month or so, just be patient.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by Squillace on 08-20-2009 at 02:42 AM

Hi!

I've been a little silent but I still enjoy your skin and keep using it. However, I have a question:

I just made a custom background for my contact list and the result sounds great on it but it looks awful in the conversation windows. How can I keep using my custom background in the contact list and use the original BG of your skin ou the WLM's original instead in the conversation windows?

Thank you very much!

P.S. - I can ask the same question about the little dialog box that ask's me if I want to appear offline or online when I login.

RE: [Released]My Live Messenger by blessedguy on 08-20-2009 at 05:37 PM

Hi Squillace =)
You just need to add new background ids to the windows you want to change.
Conversation is 920, if I recall correctly, and don't remember that popup right now, just look for it.

Do this: (being ~ the path to your Messenger Plus! Skins folder)
Go to ~/My Live Messenger/Windows/Definitions and open the definition you want to change (msgres_def_920.txt for 920 for example), and look for "background=rcbkd("msgr",625)" (which is the the "main" background).
Just change it to any number between 59990 and 59999 (I'm sure I'll never use those, so there won't be problems), and declare that new number in SkinInfo.xml, indicating the correct path to the background and everything.
If you want things faster, simply replace a background file keeping the original name over custom's name, and only declare that new number in the corresponding ResGroup (use Ctrl+F with the file name).
Anydoubts, I'm here ;)

Just go to where you installed plus (Usually C:\Program Files\Mesenger Plus! Live) and go to the My Live Messenger folder (\Skins\My Live Messenger\) All of the backgrounds are in the 'backgrounds' folder, with the correct names. It's very handy for making a quick choice ;o

Yes, by editing the editing the resource files.

XML code:
}
ToastMessage
{
    Foreground:rgb(51,51,51);     Accessible:true;
    AccRole:42;
    AccState:0x40;

In style 921 probably (C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Skins\My Live Messenger\Windows\Styles\msgres_style_921.txt). Just change the rgb value to change the color, remember to save it and restart messenger.
