Can't sign on as admin by nathan145 on 01-19-2009 at 12:53 PM

Hi, since i downloaded live plus add on i can't sign into my admin account. I get the message "the user profile Service service failed the logon. User profile canot be loaded." I can sign onto guest account as it has no password. I have tried to remove the add on but it still says it is installed. I have contacted dell and they say it is a file corruption (not really to sure what that is, but dont sound good), They told me it is easy to fix but want me to pay 39 quid so i thought i'd try here first. Also, my laptop wont allow me to update windows. Thank's in advance

Did you download MP!L from this site or another site?

Well this site doesn't host the installer. http://msgpluslive.net would be the official website to get the installer. Or a trusted mirror.

Which version of Windows are you running? Please note that this is more of a coincidence then Messenger Plus! Live causing this as it doesn't interfere with user accounts in any way.

Error message when you log on to a Windows Vista-based computer by using a temporary profile: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded"
The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. - Vista Forums:
Based on that article your user account is broken. You will need to remove it.

DELETING YOUR USER PROFILE WILL DELETE ALL SETTINGS AND DOCUMENTS, MAKE SURE TO BACK THEM UP

Now what you can do is click Start, then in the search type CMD. Right click command prompt and click Run As Administrator.
In the command prompt window type

code:
net user administrator /active
You may need to type
code:
net user administrator /active:yes

Once you have the administrator account active then you will need to follow the steps in the article to remove the user account then create a new one.

Feel free to wait for someone elses opinion.

You can just close the command prompt window. Once you have done that you need to log off the guest account and you should have a new account that says Administrator.
