Multiple screens and tabbed conversations problem by sinkhead on 02-01-2009 at 04:02 PM

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when using multiple screens and tabbed conversations something gets on my nerves.

When I move the whole conversation window to a different screen, when I click on a different tab the window jumps back to the original screen.

I move each conversation in the window separately which can get annoying, as I regularly have around ten or more conversations open.

Any help in sorting this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot  :)

Sam

that's not normal. Are you using a software that manages your different screens in a particular way? anybody else with that problem?

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (5.1.2600)
Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1018
Messenger Plus! Live 4.80.0.356

Using UltraMon 2.7.1. Can't confirm.

Nope, I installed Windows only a few weeks ago because it's a new PC, and I haven't installed any skinning programs or window managers or anything like that.

The only thing that could affect my screens is the ATI Catalyst Control Center, the driver for my graphics card which is an Asus 4850.

I'm using...
Windows XP SP3
WLM Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8050.1202)
MPL Version 4.79.0.353 (BETA)

Actually, maybe it would help if I upgraded from BETA...

Ok, upgraded to MPL Version 4.80.0.356 and I still get the problem.

It only occurs when chat windows have been maximised, however.

Thanks for your time.

hi, i have quite a similar problem too.

With tabbed chats(window not maximised), whenever i change in between tabs.. the msn conversation window gets smaller and smaller everytime i change tab.. Sort of like shrinking lol.

thanks.

Windows Vista Enterprise
WLM 2009 Build 14.0.8050.1202
MPL Build 4.80.356(latest)

I too am having this issue, I thought it may have been the skin I was using (Avalon Concept 2009 2.0.7) but even after going back to default (Standard messenger look) it still happens, its quite annoying when you have multiple tabs open. I have tried a few other skins (9.0 certified too and it happens with them all)

FYI Win Vista Ultimate 32bit
Messenger 2009 (build 14.0.8050.1202)
MsgPlus 4.80.0.356

[edit]
It appears that this happens when using anything other than Windows Aero, I was using a windowblinds skin when this happened. I unloaded the skin and went back to default Aero and it was fine. It was fine before though, so something must have changed as I have always had WindowBlinds installed as I hate Aero :(

you can fix this by adding the msnmgr.exe to the ignore list... i dont quite remember off the top of my head but yea.. if you put it in there i think it shall fix your problem

Thnx for the reply, but then it looks fugly as it forced to windows classic, plus as mentioned all was fine before the last update.

Will this problem be addressed? It is highly annoying and as mentioned adding msnmgr.exe to the ignore list makes msn and its opened windows look like crap.

Whats the point of having an app that can skin itself if we are advised to remove that function to get it to work?
