Idle Liar 1.0

With This Script you can set Idle status on demand.It's only for Window live Messenger 14.0.8064.206 and supports both xp and vista.

Thanks to TheBlasphemer To have explained me that vista does dynamic Re-basing And How to Retrieve VA from the script

Thanks To CookieRevised for functions to write bytes in memory

How To use The script:

    - Select 'Set Idle' from the Plus! icon submenu for scripts
    - Use the '/idle' command in a conversation.

N.B:This script use a totaly different way to set idle status compared to Idle on demand script written by CookieRevised,so i have opened a new thread.I apologize to everyone for doing that script before updating Appearing Offline Helper,but my girlfriend asked me for that and i can't say no to her. :P

Feature suggestion: Remember your last status
If I exited/signed out of WLM while in idle mode, I should sign back in in idle mode.

Before nitpickers hit at me, yes you can sign back in into WLM in idle mode. Assume you're signed in and you go idle legitimately and your internet dies for a few seconds. When you return (auto sign in), your machine is still on idle so WLM will still show you as being idle.

Great script!!! :D Congratulations Guru

This is out-of-scope for this script...

Instead, use my 3-year old Remember status script...

Just a question... If I'm idle, do I stay idle while I'm chatting with someone???

Because when I get idle on demand and I move the mouse or anything I'm online again...

Well, you still stay idle, which is the point.

And as for Idle on Demand, that wasn't supposed to happen. It never happened when I used it. :)

The script is supposed to keep you at idle until you actually disable the idleness by changing your status/type "/idle" command in a convo window again :)

I don't know why, but it seems that it don't work for me. When I switch status to Idle and asking my friends what status I have, they always say; "Away".

Is it client-sided or what? Or do they need msgplus to see it..??

Actually, they do need Messenger Plus! Live in order for Idle to be shown as Idle and not just "Away"

Idle only shows up on those who have plus! installed.
otherwise its away.

You can either select 'Set Idle' from the scripts menu in the main contact list or just send in a conversation windows '/idle' (without the quotations).

a beta version of WLM 2011 has been released. But I'm not going to update my WLM because I hate the new look and functions.

In another post I read that editing this script was very complicated otherwise I would have made it. :/

...Beta or not, I won't download it. It's messy and full of ads everywhere + irrelevant content lol

I really hope someone will either update that script or create a new one!

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by matty on 10-13-2010 at 08:28 PM

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't this work? I am not at home and cannot test it but I don't see why you couldn't simply do this...

Javascript code:
function OnEvent_ChatWndSendMessage(pChatWnd, sMessage) {
    if (sMessage.match(/\/idle/)) {
        Messenger.MyStatus = STATUS_IDLE
        return '';
    }
}

Just tested and it doesn't appear to do anything. WLM crashed as I went to put some traces in though so couldn't say 100% certain

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by mizkrissi on 10-14-2010 at 06:59 AM

first of all would like to say thank you for such a fabulously handy application. i love it, use it all the time and it is brilliant

having an odd issue of late with idle liar 1.1

(using wlm 8089.726 & messplus 4.85)

i set idle and intermittently and without warning i see that idle has unset itself back to available. does not co-incide with any particular recurrent actions (such as opening hotmail, moving the mouse). i usually set myself to idle overnight or instead of away and so it is a bit disconcerting to come back and find i am un-idled. have even been at the kb and watched it unset itself almost immediately after being set and then other times it has run just fine and not un-idled

it is only a recent problem and only noticed it after having to dick about retrograding everything after seeing that idle liar wasn't compatible with the newer versions of wlm. cleared out everything i could find in registry etc of that upgraded version in case it was causing the glitch but to no avail

did not wish to mess with the programme and really bugger it up so is there something obvious i have not thought of that will solve things

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by matty on 10-14-2010 at 01:09 PM

If you enable the event log viewer try and monitor how quickly it happens and if there is a specific event, such as being signed out and back in. Idle isn't a real usable status therefore WLM won't set your status back to it, if I am not mistaken, on an auto-reconnect.

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by MKCTZ90 on 12-20-2010 at 06:37 AM

Seems like this script has been left.
It's really useful and I would like it to be updated to v8117 of messenger.

I would do it myself, it seems it send bytes to the application.
But first I would need to get the address of it.
How is the right way to get a process memory address in unsigned integer?
I mean the memory pointer to it?
Seems it's all it needs to send the application the bytes.

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by Jag021 on 01-21-2011 at 07:38 PM

Anybody able to update this script?

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by felipEx on 02-06-2011 at 01:35 AM

Heya,

I've edited this script to support WLM 14.0.8117.416... been using it for a while, since I haven't seen TheGuruSupremacy recently on WLM nor had a reply from him I decided to share a few lines of code as I'm not going to upload the script package for the masses without permission of TheGuruSupremacy :tongue:

If you're interested on it, just edit the script yourself :)

JScript code:
      Address = [0x64A138,0x649EC9
                , 0x647AA1]
      if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8089){i=1}else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8064){i=0}
      else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8117){i=2}

RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by Arcticwolfx on 02-06-2011 at 01:39 AM

Nice felipEX! Kind of you to share that in this manner.

Sidenote: Is this script still necessary, since you're able to use /away ?

away != idle
away is a messenger status, while idle is a Plus! status, and usually means that the person really is away, not just faking it :P

This script lets you use /idle to set your status as idle.

However unless your contacts have patched WLM or are using Plus! they will see you as away.
RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by Arcticwolfx on 02-06-2011 at 01:54 AM

Ah, thanks! Never used either hehe. (Probably because I'm never really Idle..)

Not true...

Idle is also a Messenger status and it has always been there since Messenger existed (at least as far as I can tell). But it is a special kind of status, one which you can't set yourself on demand, hence the reason for this script.

---

For those who don't know: You'll automatically become Idle in Messenger when you're not doing anything at the computer for a certain amount of time (and you've enabled the option in Messenger: "Set me as away if I don't do anything for x minutes"). So, you don't need Messenger Plus! for this at all, it is build into Messenger. Thus you need to set this time-before-becoming-Idle in the options of Messenger.

But the thing is that you normally don't see the Idle status as such because Messenger desguises this also as "Away". In other words, in Messenger there are two kinds of 'Away' statusses: the real 'Away' status and the 'Idle' status (but which is also shown as "Away"). And that is where Messenger Plus! comes into play; Plus! can change that fake "Away" string into "Idle" so that you can actually see the difference in your contactlist.

;)

To everyone saying "plz update to latest wlm", we can update it for you, but we cannot release it. Just be patient and wait for TheGuruSupremacy to come back. Also, we'd appriciate it if you could stop bugging us via PM. I've got about 4 PM's for NudgesToolsScript, but as I've said before, I can update it for personal use but I cannot distribute it without TheGuruSupremacy's permission.

Well, supposedly it's alright to present a "Fix" for a script, by adding the fixed part of the script attached to a post reply in this thread or simply by showing how users can edit the script to fix it with a
code:
tag. As long as you don't "distribute" the script with a different name and/or labeling yourself as the creator.

Furthermore you could also create your own script which has the same features.. learning from this script, without using Copy&Paste might be a good learning experience as well.

However, you don't have to do any fixing at all of course.. :P

Note that both things are not always appreciated either though.

Many developers don't want other people to even attach 'fixed' scripts in posts as this is distributing too and can confuse the user.

As for creating your own script with the same features. It highly depends what is meant with 'same features' though. More than often, that too is seen as ripping of. Unless the script has some other decent stuff included.

However, making a post like felipEx did is allowed by most developers.

If I were you I'd look back on my "Nudger" script thread. First of all, I said I was simply changing the name. I didn't say I was creator. Second, I realised what I did was wrong and ceased editing it. If you'd like a flame war, let's take it to PM's ;P
RE: [Release]Idle Liar 1.0 by matty on 03-22-2011 at 03:49 PM

Ok this certainly is getting out of hand. Releasing someone else script under a different name/changing the name is misleading. Posting the code and steps to fix it is ok because they need to download the authors original work and use your modifications to correct issues.

Ok step by step:

1) Launch Msn

2) Click on the Messenger Plus icon and select Options (don't know the exact menu title because I have it in Spanish)

3) Click on the Script tab

4) Click on the Idle Liar script (if it's already installed otherwise, install the old version)

5) Click on the editbutton.

6) In the Script editor replace the line with the new one on the forum

Updated it for 15.4.3538, just open up the script and replace the start of the OnEvent_Signin() function as below:

code:
function OnEvent_Signin() {
    Address = [0x64A138,0x649EC9,0x647AA1,0x4A4A8F]

      if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8089){i=1}else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8064){i=0}
      else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8117){i=2}
      else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==3538){i=3} // 15.4.3538

Seems to be fine, but let me know if it doesn't behave as expected.

Also, for anyone looking to update it in future,  you need to track down this function (in 14.[whatever].8117):

code:
.text:00647A9B                 push    ebp
.text:00647A9C                 mov     ebp, esp
.text:00647A9E                 mov     ecx, [ebp+arg_0]
.text:00647AA1                 push    dword ptr [ebp+0Ch]
.text:00647AA4                 add     ecx, 0FFFFFFCCh
.text:00647AA7                 call    sub_6465D5
.text:00647AAC                 pop     ebp
.text:00647AAD                 retn    8

In 15.4.3538 it looks like this:
code:
.text:004A4A87                 mov     edi, edi
.text:004A4A89                 push    ebp
.text:004A4A8A                 mov     ebp, esp
.text:004A4A8C                 mov     eax, [ebp+arg_0]
.text:004A4A8F                 push    dword ptr [ebp+0Ch]
.text:004A4A92                 mov     ecx, [eax+23Ch]
.text:004A4A98                 call    sub_4A49C0
.text:004A4A9D                 pop     ebp
.text:004A4A9E                 retn    8

I tracked it down using the function it calls, 6465D5 (old version)/4A49C0 (new version), specifically, using the following string referenced by said function:
code:
004A49E7                 push    offset aChotmailser_10 ; "CHotmailService::SetPresence_State"

From there, I just backtracked to the start of the function, found the (now 1, was previously 2) address of the caller, and grabbed the address of this instruction:
code:
.text:004A4A8F                 push    dword ptr [ebp+0Ch
... and threw that in the script.

Using the build number as is was a little tacky, but I don't suppose it'll matter a great deal.

For last version (v15.4.03555):

code:
Address = [0x64A138,0x649EC9,0x647AA1,0x4A4A8F,0x4EEEEF]

     if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8089){
       i=1
     } else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8064){
       i=0
     } else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==8117){
       i=2
     } else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==3538){    // 15.4.3538
       i=3
     } else if(Messenger.VersionBuild==3555){    // 15.4.3555
       i=4
     }

twostars thank you very much for your instructions! Without them I couldn't find this.
