WLM 9 + MP!8 /brb /onphone by Nagamasa on 03-02-2009 at 10:51 PM

I am unsure why, but when I use the /brb or /onphone Commands in the conversation window, my block of my taskbar buddy turns white, the colour of appearing offline, instead of yellow or red , the Away and Busy colours.

However, the correct status is changed and the frame colour is correct in the Contact List Window and the conversation window.

Just minor things. More info is available.

Yeah, I've noticed this too.

Tbf the whole graphics of MP!L are being overhauled after the release of 2009 anyway, as the tabbed chat icons are still the olds tyle.....so i think it's something that will be fixed as part of that

also, depending if/when the forced upgrace to 2009 takes places those statuses could be removed altogether

There'd be no point if they weren't recognised by the Messenger protocol anymore :P

IMHO, ways to change status to the ones other than Available (Online), Away, Busy and Appear Offline, such as commands or personalized status window, should be hidden from the Windows Live Messenger 2009 users without waiting a forced upgrade from WLM.

But at the moment they can still be detected by users of WLM 8.5, so there's still a point in having them there.....only once 8.5 is no longer useable should they be removed.

For example, i'm using WLM 2009, but if i type /brb in a conversation then 8.5 users will see me as set to be right back.....so it's still valid

But for example Messenger 7 will always be available, so according to your way of thinking, those statuses should never be removed from Messenger Plus! because one of your contacts may always be using Messenger 7 and can see your On The Phone status when you set it with the help of MsgPlus!.

I don't suggest a complete removal of those status names from Messenger Plus!, rather hiding them from WLM 2009 users and preventing them from setting to those statuses only to be consistent with WLM 2009. Because even when users set their status to "On the phone" with MsgPlus!, Messenger shows them as "Away" and this may confuse their minds.
