VLC Player not playing video files (grey screen) by Th3rmal on 03-09-2009 at 12:31 AM

Every time i try to play a video file with VLC, i get a blank grey screen all the way through, but the audio is fine.

This only started happening this morning, and a fresh install didnt help :S

Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not the file you're playing?
Did you install any video software/codec which can affect it?
Tried using system restore?

Happens with all video files. That particular file was working yesterday.

Thats abit drastic for my problem dont you think?

Note: The files DO work in other media players (eg. Winamp) but not in VLC

You should try resetting the settings, that might help.

Hmm even though that was running off a fresh install, that seemed to work, thanks (Y)

vlc probably left the settings data in some file in the installation folder, so it detected and applied them when you reinstalled ;p
