you meet new friends by going out places or going to chatrooms....then you ask for their e-mail address and add them to messenger

there's no way of searching for contacts.  Messenger is supposed to be private and for people you know......that's why you have to add an e-mail address

If you want to be able to talk to anyone and everyone then use a chatroom instead

Ok thanks for that.I used to use Odigo and that enabled one to search for new friends around the globe.I just wondered if messenger had the same.

       Thanks again.

Just a thought, why do i sometimes get requests from messenger users that i do not know,or have given my email to,to add as their friends? How do they do this?

The only way someone can request to add you is by knowing your e-mail address.

If someone who you don't recognise adds you, either ignore it....or if you're curious then add them and ask how they got your address.

It could be that it's a friend of someone who has your address or something like that.

You won't necessarily know the address of everyone who adds you if they got your address from someone else

That's true in some cases that is the situation but having new frenz is not really something bad...Not really encouraging it but you can get to know the person.

Just ask them where they got it, I always do.

Usually someone gave it to them.
