Almost everyone has played SNES in their life before so my question is:

What were/are your favourite games?

Lately, I've been playing Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario All Stars. I loved Super Mario World but I lost it

I really wanna buy more games but the only store that has them only sell crappy ones or they sell the good ones for $25, which I think is too much for such an old console! Then again, Super Nintendo is a classic :gfdrin:

Street Fighter II was simply awesome on that console.

Chrono and I had a chat about the SNES when he came over to London... about how the console looked completely different in the UK

Asterix and Obelix and Super Mario. I still remember how much fun I had with SNES when I was 4. :D

I had the European version MenthiX posted below.

European version FTW (although the image URL says they had this one in Canada too?):

I actually ordered some chips a few days ago to use the original controllers on USB for playing ROMS. Don't have the actual console or original games anymore :(, might actually re-buy at some point.

ya, I just found that out earlier when I was on wikipedia. There were different models released. The North American version looks a little less modern than the Japanese/PAL versions

Buy the games on ebay, they will be much cheaper.

Iminlikewithyou.com (omgpop.com) has Balloono, basically Bomberman, but online and flash and NOT fail...but instead of Bombs it's balloons :p

RE: Super Nintendo Entertainment System! by wacky on 03-26-2009 at 12:07 AM

ahhhhh

well I hadn't heard of it before. It's a little fun but I wouldn't pay for it. It's good as entertainment on the computer but not good enough for my SNES!

RE: Super Nintendo Entertainment System! by MeEtc on 03-26-2009 at 12:21 AM

Just some clarification on the differences between the American and European versions. I believe the correct name for the version that Menthix posted is the Super Famicon. As for games, bomberman was epic if you had the multitap connector to allow 4 people to play. My personal favourite game and still ranks as one of my favourites across any platform is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars. I don't own it personally bit I borrowed it from a friend and played it straight through. I've also played the ROM straight through to the end more recently. Another highly awesome game that ranks a close second (and unfortunatly I have never been in possesion of a physical copy of. If anyone does have it or can get it, I will pay to get it myself) is Earthbound. The storyline is awesome, I'd highly recommend it.

As for games I actually own, I got mine with donkey kong country (the first one) and got a FIFA soccer game which I forget the exact title of now, I've since lost it. I also have super mario world and DK2. Last game is SimCity (not 2000, the original one).

If you have a paralell port on your computer, its possible to wire up to 4 NES/SNES controllers to the port. Due to lack of solder, I only managed to get just the single SNES controller running, but it might have been due to lack of DC power too, I'm not sure.

I think it was only called that in asia (where they also tended to get some really cool games that you couldn't get here). You can see in the European version that Menthix posted that Super Nintendo is written on the console.
RE: Super Nintendo Entertainment System! by wacky on 03-26-2009 at 12:34 AM

this, I believe, is the European version:

and this is the Japanese version:
