Screenshot Quality by Shadowajohn on 03-27-2009 at 06:18 PM

I was just wondering if it is possible to increase the quality of screenshots when sharing photos?...seems like the quality is killed quite a bit

There is no way to change the quality of photo sharing. You can use Messenger Plus! to disable photo sharing so that you can send the original file.

The quality in Photo Sharing is intentionally killed so that it's only transmitting a small quantity of data in order to enable fast sharing.

It's not something that can be altered by Messenger Plus! Live as it's something done on the Microsoft servers.

The quality of the photos shared with PhotoSharing is NOT decreased. The photos recieved by your contact are exactly the same as the ones you've send!

What is decreased in size is the PREVIEW image you or your contact will see in the conversion window, which is quite normal and even logical, and thus a good thing, afterall it is just a preview. Your contact doesn't want to recieve +10MB of data for each photo if he doesn't like the photos.

But if your contact decides to save the image he just previewed, then the exact same original image will be send to him, no quality loss or resizing at all. The saved image will be byte per byte exactly the same as the original.

Well yeah, that's what I was talking about.....of course the file itself doesn't have the quality reduced, only the preview to enable quick sharing....which is kinda the point of photosharing, to enable you to show a photo without having to send the whole thing
