Windows 7 Ulitmate 64Bit & Message Plus Live! by Lantash on 04-11-2009 at 12:27 AM

Hey there I'm currently beta testing Windows 7 Ulitmate 64Bit

However having to install a 32 Bit version of WLM [Version 2008 Build 8.5.1032.1018] but when I try to install Message Plus Live! 4.1.0.250,
it tells me I need a new version to support WLM 8.5 then proceeds to download Message Plus 3.  What is happening and why is this happening ?

thanks in advance

I went one better installed Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.206) unfortunately not 32 Bit :(

AFAIK there is no 64bit variant for any Live/MSN Messenger version at all. They are all 32bit, which works fine on a 64bit OS too.

Yes I just discovered that & thank you

I believe MS have a lot to answer for. If they want users to switch over & use 64 Bit OS's and then not supply the tools to let them do so. Is a tad shoddy on their part.  But at least I "A" version working

thank you all

what's wrong with using 32-bit software on 64-bit windows? i mean, you used to be using 32-bit windows on a 64-bit processor and didn't see a problem there...

i run MANY x86 progams on my x64 win 7 and dont get many problems... there are some yes but thats because its old version that havent been updated to the beta...

wlm 9 is basically made for win7 x86 or x64 =\

Previously I was using a 32 Bit OS on a 64-bit processor as I didn't have the hardware I do now Ihave recently upgraded my GPU & RAM. This warrranted an install of a 64 Bit OS.

I don't have a problem per say. Just a request that developers start developing for Native 64 Bit. Nothing more, nothing less. Not wanting to start a flame war here. Just my Opinion. Afterall I now have WLM & Plus! working albeit 32 Bit versions but they are working.

well if a x86 program can run perfect on x64 why make another version to do the EXACT same thing? =\
