Lag/Freezing by dakki10 on 04-11-2009 at 12:55 AM

Hey

Is anyone else having a weird freeze/lag when sending messages or receiving messages?

Because I've had this for 2 days now and it just suddenly started, every time i type a message it takes around 5-10 seconds to show up on teh screen and meanwhile teh window remains frozen...'ve cleared  my Cache and everything but it;s still the same thing...

any help or anyone else having the same problem?

thanks

Last time that happened, I'd go buy a new HD within 5 days...
Try defragmentating your HD to see if things get better.

(By "show up in the screen" you mean to show after typing or after pressing "enter" ?)

I doubt it'd be as serious as needing a new HD ^o)

But yes, you should probably try defragmenting.

I even opened a thread here that time =P
Began with some programs slowing down... then system slow down... then the extra partition stopped working... then my warrant wore out, then it broke =D
(with a beautiful damage inside... Glad to have backed everything up!)

Maybe it could also be problems with Windows Registry (if only Messenger) or RAM memmory (general).

Well, if you say so :P I'd normally only get rid of a HDD if I heard unusual noises coming from it or they stop booting (I still have two of them, a WD 60GB and some old IBM one that's about 10GB).

Anyway, you might want to also use CCleaner before defragmenting, which helps clear useless files off your PC and speeds things up a bit.

So don't worry about your HD, just call you Internet Service Provider.

...

So, have you recently installed any scripts or addons to Messenger?

I'm having the same problem and the only thing that I have added was Plus.  I don't think it is a HD problem because it only happens with Messenger Live and only with this latest version
