Who do you think will win this year's contest?

Official Site: http://www.eurovision.tv/page/home

P.S. I have the Multiple Choice enabled so you can vote all countries as always!

Obviously, its Eurovision. Australia isnt involved in it, nor is it even covered here or shown here.

It is shown on SBS and covered on the news.

As per usual some eastern bloc/ex-Soviet nation will win. Yay for post-Cold War Eurovision voting.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Basilis on 05-15-2009 at 12:14 PM

I don't think so. Norway has a good chance of winning because they have a good song and many countries next to them, which means many easy 12point votes.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Menthix on 05-15-2009 at 12:22 PM

We didn't make it to the finals, thankfully. Less BS about in the media.

Hah, don't be too sure about that.

We Scandinavians don't do the "vote because you are close to each other" thing.

The eastern ones however do. D:

Most people here dont know what eurovision is or give a fuck what it is about.

It's turned bad as the years has crumbled along, indeed.

Used to be about actual singing.

i just listened our shit and dat was off da hook. Turkey ftw.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Vilkku on 05-16-2009 at 08:34 AM

Finland has the best slot. Norway has a good song. I voted for Finland and Norway.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Basilis on 05-16-2009 at 09:45 AM

I never watch the songs. I just watch the countries giving points to each other.

Afaik, Germany will have an on-stage stripper this year! :cheesy:

Here's Greece's submission for this year (with closed captioned lyrics! :P) : This is our night

Google predicts that Turkey will win this year's contest.
RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Aeryn on 05-16-2009 at 03:07 PM

I voted for Estonia, just because that's the only song I've heard and I can't be bothered to listen to more of them (I am planning to watch the contest tonight, though). :p I must say, at least this year the Estonians aren't jumping around the stage and making a fool of themselves, and for that I'm grateful. :p

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Discrate on 05-16-2009 at 03:30 PM

Greeces song was written by two aussies so im if anything i would go for them.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Menthix on 05-16-2009 at 04:13 PM

Lithuania, Iceland and Estonia are pretty nice. Estonia sounds very familiar btw. Not the lyrics as I don't understand a word of it.

http://www.eurovision.tv/page/moscow2009/the-participants/final has all the videos together, click on "complete participant profile".

That's the most boring part of everything, might as well just view the final results online then.
RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by RaPLeX on 05-16-2009 at 09:44 PM

Norway going to take it.I hope Turkey will be 2nd.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Discrate on 05-16-2009 at 10:03 PM

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by RaPLeX on 05-16-2009 at 10:10 PM

congrats to norway

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Basilis on 05-16-2009 at 10:24 PM

Congratulations. It was a great song.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Discrate on 05-16-2009 at 10:33 PM

It was a crap song to be honest.

Everyone is saying his looks got him the votes.

They all were
RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by Aeryn on 05-16-2009 at 11:03 PM

I really liked Finland's song. They deserved a lot more points than they got.

Also, I find Norway's lead singer just creepy with his slightly manic pretty-boy smile. :p And what's even creepier is that so many people preferred him and that song over so many others. :p

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by CookieRevised on 05-16-2009 at 11:22 PM

I found the Eurovision song contest "better" than previous years...

This year it was a bit more about the music than about show and politics. I'm also very glad that the voting system was changed a bit (with the professional jury). Which reflected in the points being given...

Too bad most of the songs themselfs still sucked :P

Congrats to Norway though (but it wasn't my favorite; the music of the song itself was beautiful, but the style of singing wasn't realy my thing).

I agree, although I like the style of music but not really the song itself anymore. Too much overused recently. :p

Also, yes, I think his looks got some of the votes, but I am still insanely surprised that something with that style won with 387 points (new record). Had myself a laugh.
RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by andrey on 05-16-2009 at 11:39 PM

well i was expecting germany to make the last place..
i guess they should have focused more on dita von teese (the stripper) instead of that gay ass singer and shitty song =p

but there were some good songs this year..  turkey was good and norways song was pretty decent too.
